Went there for a special occassion with family and friends. The food was of a high standard but just falling short of excellent. The location literally on the beach with amazing views makes uta very special place.

Visited Summer Salt recently for dinner with Mrs JB and family.
Nice is probably the best way to describe the night.
Over gregarious Maitre' D' who was excited on arrival, but obviously couldnt keep the pretence up all night.
Wait staff seem attentive, but fail on the basics of making sure that the night is progressing well and that everyone is well looked after.
One of us had the set menu-at $51 for 3 courses is really good value.
Its a shame that the main meals that were over $45 let the side down.
Entrees and deserts were very good, but main meals left something to be desired.
Barramundi overcooked, chicken overcooked, pork overcooked, and very liberal use of salt, that had members of our party wiping the salt of the crusty skin of the fish with their napkins, unable to remove with a knife.
To diners, look at the set price menu, only a couple of choices per course, but certainly worthy.
My advice to Summer Salt would be to get away from the "try hard", and just do things well-you dont need to be overtly out there to be noticed.

The location is superb ...right on the beach at Eloura. At night, the water is spot lit too. Try to book a table near the windows for full effect. Servce is professional and efficient. The menu is varied, not hugely extensive, but certainly enough choice. Prices are at the upper end. The cooking and presentation of the food is superb ! Each plate is a picture ...beautifully arranged and very tasty. Ideal for a very special occasion.

Starviing, lost and over it, I wandered in alone.

Hoping for a quiet snack, Summer Salt turned out to be far more posh than I was expecting. The staff made me feel welcome instantly, showing me to a table, then moving me closer to the huge glass windows that let in 180 degrees of white sand and sea.

The wine, while minimal in choice was extra chilled, and delicious just how I like. The salt crusted squid was butter soft, despite a pool of squid ink that looked like tar and tasted almost the same.

Food: not that special, but more than made up for my genuinely warm and attentive service, super chilled wine, excellent coffee and a view to get lost in.

As a "cook" not chef I have always been told seafood and cheese are a no no unless of course in a mornay. Entree shared plate consisted of smoked salmon roulade with goat cheese filling which totally overpowered the subtle smoked fish. Another oddity was the onion risotto with parmesan foam and coffee dust - what's that about??? Then the mains - lamb for me which was wrapped in pastry that was soggy and hid the overcooked lamb fillet. My partner had the barramundi which was lovely but stated the crab, mint and tomato side did not work at all. Pudding of souffle was lovely however marred by the staff preparing for the dinner service by vacuuming around the table as we ate?? Poor attention to customer needs by a long term, very senior staff member.
This was a meal I was particularly looking forward to and was more dissappointed rather than happy. I don't think I will be back unless the menu gets a review that's makes it not such a "try hard" and one that is more honest and some front of house staff wake up to themselves that lunch patrons pay as much for the dining experience as evening patrons and would appreciate not feeling like undervalued second class diners at a fish n chip shop.
