The Old Library is beautifully renovated, lovely ambience as soon as you walk in. Love the bar in the middle, looks great. our table for two was booked for 6.30 sitting at the front section. I'd have to say for a large space the tables for two were so close we felt a little uncomfortable. the food was lovely but don't get the fact that you pay a premium of $30 plus for a main and have to pay extra for sides (veggies). The food choice is limited and a little precious! But my lamb was beautiful and very tender.

2 hours late for dinner, and it was cold, and all their dinner items are overpriced. All the owner said was sorry, we're busy. Definitely one of those type of owners who would take extra customers for the revenue and compromise your dining experience. Try oporto's across the road from this restaurant, dare say they have a finer dining experience

The Old Library was busy when we were there, and rightly so. It is a nice room, good menu and concept and interesting wines.
Service was warm and friendly, though a little inexperienced.
The share plates were good, and my steak were excellent. Was disappointed the mahi mahi was out, just as I was recomending it to my wife.
The hand cut chips on my side were also good - harder than they look to get right, and it was worth the $10, though, like everything, a couple more would have been nice.
The only downer, was the barman constantly clapping. It is seriously not that big a space, and once my ears twigged, I heard every single clap.

Cronulla has long been very average and staid with moving ahead in culinary delights, service and an evening’s experience - bad service, average out-dated menus and very complacent owners have marred this coastal town.

But now we are starting to see an emergence of interesting Culinary specialties such as Duck Republic, Croydon Lane and The Old Library restaurant.
.
After enjoying the first two restaurants I was looking forward to visiting the Old Library last night after hearing some mixed but overall good reviews from friends and locals.

My advice would be - not to go if you are looking forward to a relaxing meal with friends, as we were told half way through our meal which took a long time to arrive that our table was booked for a second sitting and we needed to move. Mid dessert and enjoying our dessert wines we moved to an uncomfortable seat squashed in a corner where we were expected to finish our night where we were forgotten!

When finally capturing someone’s attention and asking three times for our bill we were handed twice the wrong bill! this experience ...sadly left us feeling like we were part of a factory process and meaningless.

Great place if you are keen to grab a wine and a nibble then move on as it is hard to say it is fine dinning when basically a wine and tapas bar. The food overall is fine, still has a few heights to reach in plating as no style, artistic approach or care with severalof our dishes ordered simply looking tossed on, blobs of food boring and uninteresting to look at. Some interesting combinations of flavours but most where basic dishes with pricey tag.

The owner was more concerned with blaming his patrons for his situation and said that at his restaurant 9 out of 10 times it will be a good experience - thank you after we paid over $350.00 dollars for 4 of us I will remember that it after all is not his fault but ours when he is not managing his restaurant well!

Why do we struggle with good restaurants here in Cronulla - complacency! Not sure if I will be heading back any time too soon!

The Old Library Restaurant is fantastic. Food is exceptional !! This is the best restaurant in the shire .For a special occasion this is the place to go. Their cannaloni is to die for. Bit pricey but fair for the quality food that you get. You pay that at top restaurants in the city and get less. Highly reccommend.
