This is the only restaurant i know of on north shore which has a genuine japanese feel to it. Specialist in yakitori with outstanding sushi and sashimi and various small dishes with full range of sake, shoju and japanese beers. (no byo, very small selection of wines, all bottles $50)
As there was only two of us we sat at the Sushi bar ( bar seats only 4 persons) and enjoyed the theatre in the kitchen and were able to select dishes that were going out to table.
If you like japanese food and culture Toriciya is not to be missed!

I felt like I was back in Japan. The atmosphere was very traditional, if small. The style is what you would call Japanese tapas. Our large group tried many dishes from chicken & pork-belly yakitori, various sushi & sashimi, some black cod, deliciously cooked, steamed spinach with miso & sesame sauce & a sublime, melt-in-your mouth pork-belly dish amongst other things. The agedashi tofu and the edamame were probably the best I've eaten in Australia. The wine and beer lists are adequate for those who prefer and there is a good range of saki. The staff were delightful. You definitely need to book.

Located a bit remote area in Cammeray, but this is the best Sashimi and Sushi place in North Sydney for me. Also they got heaps of Sake line up which we seldom find at some other places. If you go by a couple, suggest to book a counter for better understanding what is in your mouth:) Booking is mandatory as not many seats available. Cheers!

Toriciya is excellent. The food served here is authentic and all very good quality, especially the sashimi, the decor and seating is traditional, and they have an entire wall inside the restaurant devoted to sake. The selection was phenomenal, probably the most extensive I have seen outside Japan, and also reasonably priced. The staff here are mostly Japanese and will willingly engage you in conversation if you attempt to talk to them in Japanese, which I found refreshing and enjoyable. Recommended.
