Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach
Reviewed January 2, 2011

Being currently employed at a 5-star hotel, I've seen how the Front & Back of House operate and have high expectations especially choosing to stay at your 4 or 4.5 star accommodation. I hope this review isn't too offensive.

As we checked in the room, the toilet smelled like urine. Maybe a little refresher would help. Every time we try to use the lifts to go to the rooms, the 1st lift we enter would not move or the door wouldn't close.

Apart the negative comments, your staff & security were very approachable and friendly. The spa was pretty good as well! Thankyou for the stay!

We stayed at the Novotel Brighton Beach for four days recently and we enjoyed our stay there. Apart from the weather the first two days, the kids loved it.

We stayed there for 10 nights, location was great, plenty of restaurants and shop around. The room size was very good and spacious. The only complaint I have is the House Keeping service. The room was not cleaned everyday, bed sheets were not changed when dirty. After 6 nights I had to tell them to vacuum the room and change the bed sheets but nothing was done. Only on my 3rd try did they change the bed sheets but I can't see if they vacuum the room clean.
There are 2 queen size beds in the room, I think they are both due for a change as one is too soft like the springs in the bed are gone and the other bed makes "spring bending" noise when you get on it. At the end of my stay my back was sore from sleeping on the "soft" bed.

Not what we expected, the room was very out dated and needed new furniture. The bathroom could have been better, I found pieces of hair everywhere on the floor, sink, spa, shower, in the towels. There were stains on the curtains and the bed sheets where disgusting. We even found a cockroach! Very over priced, not worth it! Mini bar should be free as we paid a HUGE amount for just two nights. The gym and indoor swimming pool are only accessed through the "day spa", we arrived on a public holiday and therefore it wasnt open, very dissappointing, we spent most of the time in our room. The breakfast "buffet" was terrible, the fruit looked and tasted like it was OFF! We had two breakfast offers and it looked like all the food was being re-used. The stay was so bad to the fact that we wanted to go home on the first night. Put your money to good use and DON'T stay here.
