As an Accor Member we thought we would try the newest local member to the Accor family. The one word to describe the whole experience would be COLD, the service was cold, the food was cold the whole environment was cold - the whole experience left us cold.
We took our seat in the restaurant with only 3other table occupied - with 3 waiting staff you would expect the service to be more than attentive (we were wrong), the staff were pleasant but they only came to attend to us on a few occasions. Even our drinks took forever and we were basically left to pour our own wine (certainly not a Novotel experience)..
We opened with a Pancetta topped with Cherry Tomato and melted Buffalo Mozzarella on Sourdough (sounded good) - this course was slow to arrive taking over 30 minutes to arrive - we suspect we know why it took so long because it was just sitting in the kitchen after being cooked - when it arrived the bread was COLD, even the melted Mozza was COLD (how does this happen when it is melted.
Entrees were a little better with Pork Belly (though it was EXTRA fatty), Zucchini Flowers (one of the few highlights) and the Seafood Chowder (the bowl was tiny and the seafood was of low quality and the grilled prawn was once again COLD).
Again the wait was inordinate (did allow us to finish the wine - which we didn't see a waiter for nearly 20 minutes - so we pour our own). Mains were a Sirloin, Rack of Lamb (very well cooked and this one was hot) and the fish
COLD is the word that comes to mind - the lighting is poor, we didn't even have a candle (despite candles on unoccupied tables), the piped music would be better suited to a bar, the Buffet Servery slap bang in the middle doesn't help.
This restaurant is priced as a fine dining experience ($15-$20 entrees, $30-$40 mains and $50 wines) - was it a fine dining experience CERTAINLY NOT (not even close - we could get a better meal with better atmosphere at the Bella Vista Hotel for half the price - even with our member discount considered).
An interesting footnote was the interchange between the two waitresses when paying was they expected to see some changes by ACCOR soon - my comment is YOU need to change.
