Its been our loss... this evening we saw an empty table and decided tonight was to the night.
Teriyaki Boy may be a small restaurant but its big with smiling staff - a smile says a lot to us...
A well laid out simple menu with assorted entrees and main with a big blackboard of specials.
We are into flavours and entrees - so our order was simple, pan fried goysu - some spinach served cold .. sounds odd perhaps to some readers but it was nothing short of divine!
and then the Lotus root chips... Extraordinarily interesting - why does my own wasabe mayo not taste like that?
The boss as a fish addict, she ordered a dinner box - a mix of chicken teriyaki, sashimi, tempura prawns and beautiful tempura'd vegetables, with Miso and a bowl of rice... I was astounded she ate so much - any loved everything.
My choice the wafu steak.... like other reviewers I'd rather not say it was gobsmackingly beautiful and cooked to perfection... but it was!
We thought Teriyaki Boy food was honest price - different to others sufficiently to make us want to experiment again with further menu choices ... We've had memorable meals in three hats ... we're fine with those ... but Teriyaki Boy Balmain is a little place that is well beyond 'just very good' in their niche...
Their simple service, presentation and smiles actually put some of Sydney premium restaurants to shame.
