Went to this Aussie Pub, with some friends of mine in Australia. I was visiting for a wedding of a friend. This was a great pub to sit and catch up, has a great low key family atmosphere. I saw many young family here enjoying a meal. Not much noise. I enjoyed a typical "Pub Meal" which was chips and a steak. Steak was cooked perfectly. Nothing fancy just great quality. Also a huge variety of boutique beers on offer. Love the James Squire. A great pub to enjoy a chat without the noise or the bantor.

We have been here loads, they have a great kids menu...yes all the usuals suspects..however good quality. My kids love it.

Love the atmosphere, really casual, laid back, food excellent, changed their pinot grigio (not good), only complaint, not great choice of a vegetarian..salad or pasta...come on...

My family and I have been going here regularly for the last 6 months. We have tried most of the menu and we haven't had a bad meal yet. There is something for everyone and the food is always fresh and really flavoursome.

What we like best about this place is the fact that it caters to all ages and everyone is welcome. BTW there are no poker machines which is a real winner

Visitors to Sydney would do well to get a ferry to Balmain (one of Sydney's most up and coming suburbs) and if you're not prepared to make the journey up the centre of the village, the East Village hotel is a fantastic local pub offering high quality meals and an excellent wine list. A highly unique option for those wanting to avoid the tourist traps of Darling Harbour and Circular Quay. And of course the ferry is a great way to see the harbour. Aim to depart the city just before sunset for the best views of the bridge and opera house.

East Village was a local Balmain pub with the usual old timers leaning on the bar sipping beer. It then reinvented itself as a Belgian Beer Cafe, which didn't seem to work particularly well after the initial flush.

It is now in its third creation - really back to the local pub but incredibly family friendly. We have been on a couple of occasions and there are always several groups with children. Very nice to be in such relaxed family surroundings.

A good range of boutique beers from the bar.

The dining area plus outside dining space is at the back of the pub. Good range of pizzas, steak and regular pub fare. Two for one pizzas on Monday night was good value. Yet to try to half price Mussel night on Wednesday.

Bar staff and food staff are all friendly and very helpful.
