Best Western Twin Towers Inn

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Mater Hospital (the All Seasons nearer to the Mater has closed down, although its still being advertised - go figure!) We arrived around 8pm and were given a fairly ordinary room with two queen beds - not much room left. Bathroom was small, with a constantly dripping tap and an under-bowl shelf covered with water.

The last order for meals at the restaurant was 8.45 so we hurried in. No-one else there. Prices were of the 4-star hotel variety, and there was a very limited choice of wine. House red (1 only) had been openned at least a day and was dreadful. Waiter did not charge us for it and brought a more expensive one.

Burger was the meal choice and had very grisly meat inside.

We asked to change rooms the following day and were given one which was much larger, one bed only, spa in larger bathroom and a small balcony. Why didn't we get this the night before? Reception staff and cleaner were very accommodating.

Second meal in the restaurant was even worse; still no-one else there and the waiter wanting to close early. We chose the chicken caesar salad and took it back to the room - it was hideous. Iceberg lettuce (no cos) with lumps of warm chicken on top, great lump of unidentified dressing on top of that and cut up bits of ordinary toast on top of that. No egg, no anchovies (as advertised on menu).

This hotel is large and obviously run professionally - maybe the restaurant is leased out. Pity, it's horrible, the food is very disappointing and it's overpriced. There's plenty of car parking, it's on the Pacific Highway so it's a nightmare getting out, and it's only about 10 mins to the hospital. We would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for one without two beds.

Stayed here for three nights as I was doing a training course in nearby Lane Cove, quicker and cheaper to stay here than in the CBD and pay a fortune in cab fares every day.

Convenient location anyway, you are just over the Bridge from the city, and cabs/buses are always going past, and there is a train station about 5-10 minutes walk towards the city (St Leonards station I think?).

Stafff were good, nothing exceptional but they clearly seemed to have everything under control and knew what travellers needed, storing luggage, asking you to fill out breakfast cards if you were going out and not returning until later that evening, not just going through the motions, they've clearly been trained to think ahead and not just follow standard procedures. Although maybe, with the exception of the restaurant crew at breakfast, the one morning I had brekky there, it seemed a bit chaotic in the kitchen, and the guy who seemed to be in charge was a bit surly and liked to bark orders to the cooking staff!), with the exception of him though, all good!

Room was surprisingly well furnished, comfy bed, nice big TV, and everything was in excellent condition. Bathroom nice too, shower - AMAZING! Better than mine at home, and better than many other 4/4.5 star places I've stayed in elsewhere. Everything was always spotless when I returned in the evening too, and the triangle on the end of toilet paper was always done with military precision ;-)

Downsides - yes, I would agree with others who say the Twin Towers is NOISY! Traffic noise didn't bother me so much as noise from next door did, very thin walls, and given there are a lot of stairs, and tiled walkways, every time somebody banged a suitcase up or down the corridor you heard it all! Not sure what they can do about this though, the layout of the place doesn't really lend itself to soundproofing like a regular hotel... Anyway, I'm a deep sleeper so once I was out the noise didn't bother me, but if you have trouble sleeping you might want to reconsider...

Overall, I would recommend the Twin Towers, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if I had reason to be in the North Sydney area again.

Room Tip: If you have trouble sleeping, ask if they have rooms less exposed to highway traffic, or with fewer...

We chose Best Western Twin Towers Artarmon as we were attending a wedding at Balmoral Beach and decided to use some of our fly buys points. More good reviews than bad on trip advisor so we decided to stay. We were not dissappointed at all. The reception staff were friendly on arrival and even offered to call a cab for us to get to the wedding.

Our room was at the back section with a private balcony overlooking lots of trees, lovely and quiet. The room was very clean and comfortable with pleasant decor. Bed was so comfortable and the shower was great.

Would definitely recommend to stay here.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room at the back, ours was 24, you are no where near the highway.

We stayed 2 nights at this motel and found it really convenient driving into Sydney CBD - took about 15 minutes and it was almost a straight route too. The motel itself is pretty "newish" looking and we were plesantly surprised to find ourselves in a very clean, modern looking room, complete with flat screen TV. The shower was different from the norm, with 2 additional small nozzles that enable you to shower hands free without getting your hair wet. We had a room facing the busy road, but once we closed the door, we couldn't hear the traffic zooming along just metres away. It was very quiet even at night. Ample parking within the motel grounds. Tiny pool, but enough for a quick dip (forget about doing laps!). Overall a very pleasant stay.

We stayed in this hotel purely because being a great western, we knew it would be a certain standard. The location isn't great, but it was perfect for us as it was near our campervan hire pick up the next day.

Rooms were clean, there was no evening food at the time, but we ordered in pizza. The breakfast was good, we had our fill, much to the annoyance of the breakfast chef! On the third visit to the food, he may have let out a bit of a tut... We were hungry and jet lagged!

I can't really say much more as we literally just paused here between plane and campervan. But our experience was as we expected, and I can't fault the place!
