Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort

Sure they offer free internet - if your prepared to sit in the lobby to do everything. Signal does not reach any of the floors. The rest of the hotel was fine, but this was a real pain. Very busy place.

Loved this hotel. A quieter location away from the hustle and bustle but direct access to the beach. The room was one of the largest we have ever had. The staff were brilliant and could not be faulted.

Stayed at this "resort" for 2 nights...the first night I arrived at 2:30 am...the front desk clerk was profoundly sleeping in a "working position": hands on the keyboard, face directed at the screen but completely in the arms of Morpheus...she apologized and checked us in...went to my room and the keys did not work....went back to the front desk, and clerk was sleeping again...same position...she really manages in a way that the camera behind her captures her working...in any event, after a couple of more attempts, she finally get security to let us into our room...
Breakfast is horrible....for the price paid, I was expecting a better selection...scrambled eggs, overcooked bacon, oatmeal, danish, bad bread and coffee...you have to pay if you want to get the good stuff like fruit, yogurt, etc...
Towels are so old that original blue color looks more like white....rugs and carpet are disgusting...my brother in law had to be treated for allergies after the stay...they charge you $18 for "resort fee" whether you use the facilities or not...would happily pay even more if they kept facilities clean and inviting...bottom line, this hotel needs a deep clean and change of rugs, carpet, linens and basically an overhaul of their infrastructure...is disgusting....had no option but to stay a second night because I prepaid the room...moved out to a Courtyard close to Aventura Mall..what a difference....kudos to Marriott for keeping their facilities clean and up to their reputation...

Do not stay at Newport...expensive, filthy...you have much better options around....

We booked a 2 bedroom suite for a family of 6. I was very nervous after reading reviews and made a special request with the hotel months in advance that we have a renovated room. As we pulled up into the drive, the valet attendants were very busy, but friendly. I was nervous as there were around 100 loud teenagers dressed in tuxes and formal gowns standing outside the hotel waiting for a bus. Thankfully, that was the last time I saw them! Check in was quick and we were assigned to a renovated room on the 7 floor (715). Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. But, pull out sofa was dirty and very uncomfortable. Room was stocked with fridge, microwave, dishes and utensils. I had to ask at the front desk for extra towels and a coffee maker which arrived promptly. Our room had 2 balconies with partial view of the ocean and full view of the pool and pier. Windows were in poor condition and would have let in rain, luckily there were no storms on our visit. The beach was well maintained with plenty of chairs. Pool was a nice temperature. One afternoon there was bingo and dancers for entertainment at the pool. Guests gain admittance to the Pier for free. We ordered drink specials and hamburgers from the poolside bar one afternoon. The wait staff was attentive. The lobby has a gift shop and a small shop with coffee and breakfast items. Prices a little high, but it was handy. Lots of restaurants within walking distance to the North. One strange thing going on it the lobby one afternoon was some kind of public audition. Girls were lined up, all dressed up and waiting for their turn to perform in front of a camera. Their bust, waist and hip measurements were taken before they stepped in front of the camera. Whether these girls were models or actresses, I do not know, but the way they moved in front of the camera, I do not think it is anything I want my 9 year old to see!
The elevators were sometimes busy, but it was never a big issue for us, we did use the stairs a few times. Check out on Sunday morning was quick.
Compared to other resorts in Miami on the water, this was a value for us. With no major complaints, we had an enjoyable time and I would visit here again.

We stayed at the Newport for 2 weeks during April 2014 and it was absolutely fantastic.

The staff were so friendly and cordial and always greeted us with a smile. The lobby is beautiful to say the least and the views of the sea are second to none!

The rooms are practical. We got an older modelled, family room which was perfect for what we needed. There's no denying they're a little outdated, but the hotel are in the process of redecorating all of the rooms. We did get a peak at a newer one and they're absolutely lovely.

Location was great too, there was a bus stop right across the road which brought us straight to Lincoln Road and Downtown Miami, and the bus stop outside brought us to Aventura Mall. The beach is beautiful and early morning walks are a must!

Overall, our stay here was fantastic and would definitely go again.
