“Clean and beautiful place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2012

This Hostal is very clean and the rooms are not only cheap but beautiful. Very nice place to relax after a sunny day at the beach. Healthy breakfast and nice environment, Sol and her husband will make you feel like home.

I read quite some reviews before this trip and was amazed by all the crappy places and the robbery stories. We chose this hotel since there were no "incredibly amazing" English reviews, but only Spanish ones, and hit the jack pot.

First challenge when driving into town was finding the place. Since house numbers seem to be overrated (or totally random). We were really surprised how beautiful that place is on the inside. Very welcoming lounge area, the kitchen/bar area in the middle and the rooms to the sides. Friendly warm colors, clean and spacious.

Sol and Alex are very charming hosts and did everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast, which is even included in the price, is excellent. Thanks to their affinity with organic food, the vegetarian way of life and ecological awareness, we enjoyed very nicely arranged fruit platters, cereal, grain bread, delicious tea and coffee. They even have filtered water in the kitchen, so we could safely fill our water bottles and avoid more trash.

The walk to the beach takes about 10 minutes, but you pass nice little shops and food stands and even at night this little town is nothing to worry about. We felt totally safe at all times.

The minimalist rooms (bed, 2 nightstands, 1 armchair, mirror, cloth rail, bathroom with shower, toilet, wash basin) have everything one needs and not more. The window blind makes it dark enough and the windows themselves have screens. The shower is neither warm nor cold, but for this hot weather that was no problem at all. The room we were in was equipped with a ceiling fan, that was not able to get the heat out at all. This might be the only downside to it, we slept rather fitfully due to heat and roosters next door. But hey, that's Mexico, no?

All in all a great place to spent some relaxing days in a nice Mexican pueblo. Might come in handy to know some words of Spanish, tho.

We will be back some day!

Muchísimas gracias a os dos y mucha suerte para os tres!

Firstly San Pancho is a gorgeous little town to visit where the rainforest  meets the beach.
Refugio del Sol is a gem of a place to stay while you are there.
It has a laid back, chilled, welcoming vibe.
Sol & Axel are a lovely couple that Have created a haven away from home.  They make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. The rooms are new, clean & spacious & reasonably priced.
The place has a great vibe about it, the healthy breakfast is lovingly prepared for you each  morning , the coffee is really good & if you are not a fan of dairy milk like myself then there is homemade coconut milk or oat-milk!
These folks genuinely care about their guests, the food they prepare & the environment & sustainable living.
I have not a bad word to say!
I recommend it very highly.
Thanks Sol & Axel!
