This historic house is one of Black River's few remaining treasures, now that Invercaud has gone into private use. The house has character and there's a choice of eating on the upstairs veranda, the dining room or in the bar, where a few locals often hang out. Some renovation would not go amiss but at the time of my most recent visit the upstairs bedrooms were the subject of improvement. The gardens host about 7 or 8 magnificent breadfruit trees.
Food is good, typical Jamaican, with a changing menu and well priced. Service is usually pleasant and friendly although I felt one staff member was very cold, though reasonably efficient.
