“Just as good (if not better) than Dunns Falls”
Reviewed December 23, 2012

Set away from the coast, YS falls offer spectacular scenery, a chance to swim in the falls, pleasant grounds and relaxation areas, and sensible changing facilities. Not as famous as Dunns Falls, but equally good,

“Too manicured for my liking”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

The waterfalls themselves are impressive, it has to be said. The day we went there had been heavy rain and the water was reddish brown with mud, and running so strongly that several of the swimming holes were off limits. The board walk up the side was well built and maintained (with signs saying, amongst other things, that it was slippery when wet, and that ganja smoking was prohibited; I wondered whether either was strictly necessary). The short ride up from the car park to the Falls in the tractor trailer went through lush parkland pasture (glossy brown cattle, and white egrets), with large free-standing trees looking like a British country estate until you noticed all the ferns etc. growing on their trunks and branches. Beautiful! It was a pity that the termini of the ride were so much like any other mass-market theme-park - clean, efficient and titdy, to be sure, but with shops selling over-priced, generic souvenirs, and food/drink outlets that didn't seem to run to a decent coffee or cake. There is scope for this to be so much more than a place for people to be bussed in, gawp and take a photo, and get back in the bus. Where are the interpretative boards/leaflets explaining the geology/where the falls rise/why they got their name/what the local plants are? Come to that, why plant a lot of non-native red ginger along the Falls when Jamaican plants would look much less out of place? Here's hoping for the place to get its soul back.

“A few fun pictures taken by our "guide" and few exciting activities but felt obligated to make it a quick "tour".”
Reviewed December 13, 2012 via mobile

Entry fees for YS were $16.00 for adults, I think our 8 year old was half price. Pretty scenery. Walked past the lower waterfalls, per our guide's direction, he said we'd come back, and went to an area in which we could rope swing into the water. That was fun but felt a little rushed. My 8 year old could have done that all day long but we felt a bit obligated to "move on" with our guide. The rope swing is not an independent activity because the guide needs to prompt you on the proper time to let go off the rope and drop into the water. Nothing going on further up the stairs, just closer to the waterfall, pic opportunity. Back to the lower falls, the guide assists you underneath a waterfall, chilly water pounding on your head or "massaging" your back and guide takes some pretty cool pictures with your own camera. The guide continued to safely assist you to a few different areas for picture opportunities with your own camera. This was really nice because you are not expected to buy pictures or CDs from YS for an extra fee. You are able to jump off a little waterfall and the guide takes a picture. We would have liked to have done the whole lower waterfall "massage" and jump again but our guide said his tour ended there and when we asked if we could do it again, by ourself, he said no. He said he'd stick around if we wanted to do it again but we felt rude. Ziplining also available but we passed it up because we'll never find another in which compared to one we did in Nicaragua already. Water was too low to go tubing which we had been looking forward to. Two pretty, large pools. Ate lunch there, I was pleased with my veggie burger, hubby said his regular burger was "hot lunch" caliber. Total time spent 1.5 hours. Neat but not outstanding.

“Magical place!”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

Visited YS Falls Dec 11 2012 we got a late start from our resort in Negril. Be prepared for a 2 hour ride to the falls. But you get a chance to see the Jamaican countryside. Plus its worth the wait. Got to the Falls late morning not too crowded (have seen other posts to get there early). Not a bad idea but we were on Jamaica time. Once you get there the jungle and setting are unbelievably beautiful. The heading up the falls you take a stairs for a dollar US many locals or staff are willing to take your picture if you can't spare the buck we asked some other tourist to take them. No problem mon! After you have had enough of the Falls there are two spring feed pools just awesome to swim in. One is warmer than the other as it is heated by solar panels. The whole place is based on being Eco friendly and sustainable. There is a gift shop and concession stand nothing special. Sorry this is getting so long but want to tell you the most fun is the zip line through the jungle. You get a five segment ride for 40 US. The third segment takes from the top of the falls to the bottom. Super fun for the whole family. On the way back stopped in Black River for dinner Cloggy's on the beach, best curried lobster ever 20 US with a Red Stripe. Yeah mon!

Had a lovely trip here.
The roads ( or pot holes ) on way were awful.
The roads are so dangerous I had many thoughts of '' were going to die '' lol
Rocky Mountain with nothing from stopping your vehicle going off the side.

YS Falls was beautiful, however I did fall down the stairs coming back down as all the
anti slip on the steps has worn away, I ended up with a massive bruise on my bum.

You have to pay extra for the Zip Wire $45 ( I didn't do this )

Very well maintained and looked after
