Good food - nowhere special though......we had a nice seat upstairs in the window with our friends but the service was not so good as we felt forgotten ......

“Sumptuous Sunday”
Reviewed July 6, 2014

Once again a delicious meal with service to match. The starters, mains and desserts were all tasty and original. Throughly enjoyed all courses and can't recommend this place high enough. We will be back.

“Very Pleased”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We have not eaten here for several years, and actually found it a bit "fussy" many years back when it was open then. We ate with as a party of four,a nd really liked the atmosphere as soon as we walked in. We had absolutely no problems with the service, all of the staff were helpful, friendly and attentive. We were all worried that perhaps the food would be fussy and small portions, but portion sizes were perfect. Menu seems more fussy than it actually is. I had the duck which was cooked beautifully. We were very pleasantly surprised at the reasonable price also. All in all a great evening was had. It was excellent to see local beers on tap, and we will definitely return.

“Great place”
Reviewed June 23, 2014

We ate here first time around and was sorry to see it close. It re-opened about a year ago and we have now been about 6 times. A few people have remarked to us that the service wasn't great but personally, we have no complaints for this place!

We have had 2 evening meals as part of a group of 10 or more, a Valentines meal, a birthday meal for 2 and a Sunday lunch meal. The food is all locally sourced and the wine is local organic. The food is outstanding and we have never had anything but great service (this is what let it down the first time it was open).

They offer some strange/exotic meals but everything is very good. The last time I went I had chicken Kiev for mains and while I wouldn't have it again, it was very nice. The wine slips down very easily!

The surroundings are lovely with log burners in winter and a nice airy feel. Toilets could be lighter...

You can also have a cheaper range of food to eat in the downstairs bar area if you prefer.

This is our new favourite place to eat. Well done Barnarby!

“Exceptional food and value”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

Each time I visit I am always impressed with the creative and imaginative use of ingredients.Every dish requires considerable effort from the chef and it is hugely rewarding to sample food prepared by somebody who clearly knows what they're doing. As the menu changes so frequently there is no chance that you will become bored by whats on offer, which is so often the case with too many restaurants.
The waiting staff are attentive and seem genuinely interested to ensure that your dining experience is enjoyable ,a stark contrast to so many places where customer service can really spoil a meal.
In terms of value for money I really have no idea how this standard is sustainable as there is no hint of cost saving or cutting corners. Both my wife and I feel that the Gallery has become our favourite place to eat and we would highly recommend it to anybody who is tired with the conventional and unexciting fayre so typically on offer.
