I came in at dinnertime with my friend Joanne, great food - I had to take half of mine home in a doggy bag for my tea(not a big appetite) and it didn't come to any harm in the microwave - Joanne had a Pannini, chicken and Mozarella I think it was, I had the Welsh Rarebit, both were delicious. The spicy relish with the Rarebit was superb too. Joanne finished off with a slice of the toffee pavlova roulade which I tasted, nicest cake I've tried for years. Brilliant deco as well "vintage" indeed, and full of character. Friendly happy staff topped it all off, and I will definitely be going back - glad it's looking busy, Trudi has put a lot of work into it and it shows.

“A taste of yesteryear!”
Reviewed September 8, 2013 via mobile

Entered as a stranger and left as a friend. The welcoming atmosphere is felt the minute you enter the bay tree. With happy and polite staff, wide variety of light lunches, sandwiches and hot meals, topped by wonderful homemade cakes and other yummy creations!
Would without doubt recommend a visit to this treasure set within the welsh countryside

“bay tree vintage tea room”
Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile

well worth a visit

TEA ROOM
This tea room is full of charm and is like a working museum.
The owner has taken her time to select the right artifacts from the past. my grandmother recently visited and was able to remember most of the stuff on show. The food and tea's are served in charming vintage crockery.
CAKES and FOOD
The owner had shown her cooking skills In providing the best homemade cakes and desserts in the area.
The tea room also has an on going tea for two offer at £10. which is a choice of sandwhiches, cakes and tea's.
The tea room also has a new lunch Menu which included many light lunches. I just went for the generous portion of a cake and tea for one which is enough to have 3 cup fulls.
SERVICE & STAFF
The service was quick and staff were helpful. it became very busy over lunch and I could see people going to thier reseverd tables. so that alone is an indication that the tea room is doing something right.

We used to regularly visit the Royal Oak but this surpasses it, with great vintage atmosphere and excellent food at a good price .

“Enchanting”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

We've been to the Bay Tree a few times since it has opened.

What a great place. Each of the three small dining areas has a unique feel. The trip up to the stairs to the largest room with Chesterfield sofas and club-y atmosphere is worthwhile.

I can only confirm what other reviewers have said. The staff are genuinely pleased that you've come in, and this is the perfect place for delicious scones and cakes for a proper afternoon tea. Savory dishes are worth a try too.

It may be a little hard to find for those unfamiliar with the street layout, but there's plenty of parking a two minute walk away by the Tourist Information Office.

I hope they do well, as I want to be having tea at the Bay Tree for many years to come!
