“Exceptional B&B”
Reviewed March 26, 2014

How could anyone be disappointed here. Vickie is a warm and welcoming person and made us feel as if we had known her for years. The property is in a lovely rural and quite location with just the occasional vehicle passing. The rooms we used - Oak Room with its en-suite and sitting/dining room were clean and comfortable, the wood burner made sure that we were never cold even though our visit was in March and there was snow one morning! The breakfast is fulfilling with eggs from their own hens running loose in the garden. There is the added bonus of a choice of evening meals if you want, we had three different evening meals on the three evenings of our stay and were not disappointed! There is plenty of off road parking space. All things considered we will certainly stay here again, if and when we are in the area, and have already started recommending The Old School B&B to our friends and relations. There is nothing negative to say about this B&B, go and see for your self.

Room Tip: There are only two bedrooms which is a plus from our point of view. We had the Oak Room which is do...

Thank you for such a generous review. We really enjoyed your company over the three nights of your stay and were very pleased that you enjoyed all aspects of your stay so much. The weather did leave a little to be desired but our log burner never fails to make our guests feels warm and welcome. We would love to see you both again.
Best wishes

Stayed here for one night based on Tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed! Very warm welcome from Vickie. Provided tea and lovely cake and able to rest in a lovely sitting/dining room area. Wonderful bedroom provided (Oak Room) with good bathroom amenities. Fantastic full cooked breakfast. Would recommend to all!

We have been to Old School B&B 3 times during the pass 15 months with different reasons. Our anniversary, with our parents and son. Every time, we have been welcomed warmly. We love the fire, the relaxation and of course the host. The dinner and breakfast are very nice. Fabulous living and dinning room, especially in winter, the fire place is just the best thing. We, definitely, will be back here again! Lovely experience!

Room Tip: Both rooms are fantastic!

Thank you taking the time to write a review for us. We never take it for granted that guests who return again and again are very happy with their stay. So it is great to see it in writing that you are!. It is always a real pleasure to have you all to stay. And we agree that the winter months are still an ideal time to visit us as the log burner and a home cooked evening meal make every one very cosy and relaxed. We hope to see you all again very soon.
Best wishes to you all

I stayed here Jan 2014 with my partner and son. We immediately felt welcome and at home. With a log burner and a pot of tea and some biscuits, what more could we ask for. The proprietor helped us select somewhere to go for tea and ordered us a taxi.
In the morning we we served a lovely home cooked breakfast with a selection of cereals and fresh fruit.

I would recommend the Old School to anyone looking for a cosy, comfy, top notch place to stay.

Room Tip: There are two guest rooms, we stayed in the larger one in order to get an extra bed in for our son...

We are always very pleased to read reviews from our guests and of course it is even better to know we have satisfied customers such as yourselves. But we should say that the pleasure really was all ours and we would love to see you all again. Thank you for recommending us - we particularly love being called ' top-notch' and will always do our very best to be so for all our guests.
Very best wishes to you all

We have stayed many times here, as the high standard of accommodation and fantastic welcome create a perfect break from our busy lives. The rooms are luxurious and incredibly comfortable, with everything you would expect and more, such as fridges, different coffees and teas and lovely toiletries. The location is fabulous as it feels so remote, yet Shrewsbury and multiple other towns are not far away. The B&B's most spectacular quality would absolutely have to be the guest-only lounge. Beautifully styled with a log burner (great for winter) and huge table that can sit 8, it is just incredibly relaxing and cosy. Meals are always deliciously home made and available both breakfast and evening. For us, it just cannot be beaten and we will be returning as soon as we can!

Room Tip: Either room is spacious and wonderfully laid out, with comfortable beds an full facilities. You can...

We have lost count of how many times you have now stayed with us! It is always great to have guests return and even better to get such an appreciative review. We know you like to use us as a get away due to our peaceful location but as you mention we are also very close to a lot of places to visit. We are so pleased that you find The Old School such a comfortable and welcoming place for you and your family. We look forward to seeing you all again soon as you have already booked your next break!
Very best wishes for you all for 2014 and beyond.

We have stayed previously and were delighted to find that this B and B is consistently offering a high standard of accomodation and service. Having stayed at different times of the year and both week days and weekends we can honestly say that there is always a friendly welcome, a breakfast of a high standard and very clean accomodation. The hosts go the extra mile (phoning a garage, washing a baby's bottle and cup, recommending places to visit/ eat) and make you feel very welcome. What is also lovely is the fact that there is a guest sitting room and that the B and B accommodation is self contained so you feel you have your own space as well as being looked after. The family room is spacious and in the words of our four year old this is a 'beautiful' place to visit. The added benefit of staying here is the homemade jams and other small additions such as bowls of fruit and a jug of milk for making tea.

After a very busy Christmas and New Year with our guests it always great to get feed back from very happy ones like yourselves. You have stayed with us several times and we are very pleased that you find us consistent in our high standards - we do try! We couldn't agree more that having separate accommodation for our guests adds to the comfort of your stay. It is so important that all our guests can have their own exclusive and cosy sitting room in which to totally switch off. Indeed many have fallen asleep in front of the log burner - which is just as it should be.
All the very best for 2014 and we hope to see you all very soon.

We have stayed in the old school house in the family room for the past few years, when visiting relatives in Welshpool. It is an excellent base for both Welshpool and the surrounding hill walks. We always get a warm welcome and excellent breakfast. It feels very luxurious to have the lounge next to the bedroom and when we have have been the only guests it feels like a five star hotel suite. Our two young girls love to stay there too. Maybe a few more games and puzzles for the children and adult board games and cards would be handy, to play in the evening. All in all I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. And the coffee is great too.

We really enjoy welcoming back guests like yourselves again and again. It also great to get such a lovely review! We ask ALL our guests for feed back as their opinions and comments are essential if we are to be constantly improving. Genuine and honest reviews make this possible. Your suggestion regarding the games and toys is excellent and we have already expanded those available. Perhaps you will test them out during your next visit. We very much look forward to seeing all again and thank you for your helpful review.
Best wishes to you all
