“Great B&B in Wales”
Reviewed July 16, 2012

We had a lovely, comfortable stay in a picturesque location. Waking up in the morning looking at the lambs in the field. Vickie and Tim were perfect hosts, warm and welcoming. Our room was comfortable and spotless. An added bonus of having a living room with a real fire / dining room to relax in. The location was quiet and peaceful, just the gentle clucking of the hens. Far enough away from Welshpool and Guilsfield village to be in idyllic rural countryside and near enough to pop in the car for 5 miins. in to town or village for amenities. It's a good base to sight-see central Wales. Will definitely stay again.

Thanks for your kind review. We are always pleased when guests find us to be an ideal base from which to explore what is a very beautiful, unspoilt area. We do enjoy a very tranquil spot but, as you say, we are just a few minutes away from great places like Powis Castle and Lake Vyrnwy. We really enjoyed meeting you and hope to see you all again soon. Just sorry we couldn't do much about the Great British Summer!

We received a warm country welcome from Vickie and Tim at the Old School B&B. Our room was immaculately clean, and we enjoyed a night of quietude that seems to be quite unusual anymore. Wonderful walks in the country with superb views and a good meal at a local pub (the Kings Head) capped off a great day. Vickie made a delicious breakfast supplied in part by Muriel and friends (their pet chickens). This is a charming B&B in a stunningly beautiful rural setting run by a lovely couple who really do attend to your every need. Highly recommended.

Thank you so much for taking the time in your very busy schedule to write a review. It means a great deal to us and is even more rewarding when the feedback is so appreciative. You have described us in such a complimentary way that there is nothing to add! Except perhaps to agree that we really are exceptionally lucky to live in such a beautiful and peaceful place. It was a great pleasure to have you stay. You will have to let us know if you manage to find Y Fenni cheese in Canada!
Thank you once again

If you don't like quality home cooked food, excellent customer service from genuinely friendly owners, spotlessly clean rooms with quality period furniture and comfortable beds with high quality bedding to boot - if you don't like your bathroom facilities looking so clean you'd think you are the first to use them - if you don't like little extra touches that make a difference, like home cooked bara brith with tea or coffee on your arrival, complimentary trays of fruit and sweets, and a range of tea/ coffee/ cocoa and chocolate in your room - wonderful country garden with views - free range chickens and a couple of lovely pet dogs that are really friendly - then pay (only a little) less and go to somewhere like Travelodge and leave this little gem for those who will appreciate i!!
Well done Vickie and Tim - we DO appreciate it!!

Room Tip: Only 2 rooms available. We stayed in the Oak Room but the Pine Room is equally as good.

Thank you both for writing the perfect advert for us! Your appreciation of the place is just wonderful to hear as it is exactly what we are trying to achieve. You have made the most succinct distinction between 'cheap' accommodation and that which is value for money. We couldn't have put it better ourselves! We'd love to see you both again, anytime.
Many thanks

For me this is what a B & B is all about, gorgeous location, fabulous room and amazing hosts. The room was spotless, we were so well looked after and had a great nights sleep followed by a wonderful breakfast to send us on our way.
Why this can't be the norm instead of the exception beats me as Vickie makes it look so easy, but perhaps that is what she does so well. The stay at the Old School will linger long in the memory, but it won't be for too long as we do intend to return in the not too distant future.

It is so important to us to know that our guests have had the best stay we can possibly give them, even when staying a single night, like yourselves. We also could not agree more that good service, a clean room and a great nights sleep should be the norm. Thank you for your appreciation of all the extras we give our guests, it means a great deal to us. We very much look forward to seeing you both on your return visit, sooner rather than later, we hope.
Many thanks, once again
Vickie

We stayed at the Old School for one night in June. I cannot speak highly enouaccommodation stay, everything spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. Vickie and Tim (and Daisy!) were wonderful hosts and the homemade meals superb! We felt totally at home, even some of the local wildlife came to say hello - great photo of a squirrel. We only wished we could have stayed longer :) Thanks again for everything!

You all came a very long way to stay with us and we are very pleased you enjoyed your visit so much. We are only sorry that you didn't get to see any badger to add to your list of wildlife sightings. The tawny owl failed to make an entrance, too!. It was an absolute pleasure to have you all stay, and we would love to have your company again, one day.
Happy traveling and many thanks for your kind words.

Vickie and Tim are truely lovely hosts. We felt like special guests, and they couldnt do enough for us. The accommodation is very clean, inviting and comfortable. Our party used both rooms and they were equally tasteful and spacious with everything we needed. The grounds are beautiful and the surrounding area is quiet. The breakfast was delicious and we had an evening meal, a sunday roast, of which there was plently for all. The fire in the morning room was so nice when it was alight at night, we sat around undisturbed, I can not say it enough how lovely this stay was for my little family.
In short this was a lovely B&B that I would certainly re-visit and recommend to anyone. Thank you, from The Bennett's

Vickie and Tim are excellent hosts, the whole accomodation is superior standard with plenty of space to stretch out. We stayed in the Oak room which adjoins a shared large high celing lounge/dinning room with comfy chairs and the fab log burning stove other travellers have mentioned... We took advantage of an evening meal which simply made us feel home from home and views of the sunset across the rolling hills were the icing on the cake... With an early start on the Saturday for the Welsh National Motorcycle Rally - Vickie was up to make sure breakfast was on the table for 7.30 and we had a supply of Welsh cakes to take with us for the Rally!!! Nothing was too much trouble, amazing service and value for money. Thanks Vickie,Tim - we will be back Andy and Angie.

We are always very keen to get feed back from our guests and when it is like this we are very happy indeed! We have aimed to make our accommodation as comfortable, cosy and private as possible for all our guests. But we also enjoy their company and both Tim and I thoroughly enjoyed yours. And well done for your success in the Rally and as you have already booked for next year we look forward to seeing then, if not before. Many thanks, Vickie
