A friend and I stayed over while visiting the annual Electric Bike Festival (aka Tour de Presteigne) held in the town.

We were allocated a room in the garden annex, a slightly charmless block in the rear gardens. The room was clean and spacious, though the bathroom was in need of an overhaul (in fairness, much of the hotel would benefit from some investment but I would imagine the cost would be prohibitive). The hotel is in the centre of the town but has car-parking to the rear.

The main building dates back to I think the 17th century and is truly atmospheric. It sits in well tendered mature gardens and was a good antidote to a Travelodge. The staff were accommodating and attentive.
We enjoyed a very good value evening meal and cooked breakfast. Presteigne itself is something of a quiet backwater, but the better for it.

I would certainly stay again.
