Have just been for a meal at the newly decorated White Lion.
The menu outside is very interesting and reasonably priced offering interesting homemade dishes dishes. However, on entering the pub there was a basic menu offering 2 types of curry, gammon, cottage pie. Otherwise the only offerings were baguettes and jacket potatoes.
We ordered a cottage pie and roast lamb baguette at the bar with our drinks. The waitress then came to advise that the cottage pie had run out. This was at 6.15pm ! I then ordered the lamb baguette.
The meals were served quickly and were accompanied with hot chips and a rather tired side salad. We ate the meal which was OK and was leaving the pub within 35mins of arriving.
The baguettes were £8.50 so overpriced in my view.
It is a shame as we were looking forward to the promise of a nice meal but the content did not live up to the advertising. While we were there another couple actually walked out when they saw the menu. Perhaps we should have done that. There's a nice fish and chip shop up the road.
