“First Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Having been a regular to the area for many years we have driven past the Black Lion so many times without stopping.

However being a bit bored of our usual eateries we used trip advisor for new ideas and read the reviews for the black lion.

All were spot on!

The food, service and atmosphere were unbeatable and we will now become regulars!

See you again very soon...

“Another superb meal.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2013

Vwe vsit this restaurant regularly and have never had a bad experience.

The welcome is always warm and the service 1st class.

The menu is varied and always have a 'specials board'. We ordered a variety of meals and we all enjoyed our choices. The pork belly was very tasty as was lasagne - as always.

The meals are large and I would challenge anyone to have 3 courses. We only ever have the main course and never have room for dessert.

Thank you Colin and Cheryl for yet another lovely evening.

“Seriously good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

The Black Lion is deserving of at least four 5 star reviews from me over the last 6 months. Typical low ceiling, wood beamed roof, great big fire, and very cosy venue but it's the food it really stands out for. Finding interesting or even home made vegetarian food round Aberystwyth can be difficult at best but this pub by far and away excels in getting it right. I can honestly say every meal i've eaten here is 5 star. Today's butternut squash and goats cheese lasagne was the best i've had in years. Their Brie and asparagus cheesecake starter is also delicious.
Meat eating husband has also got high praise for their beef, Lamb, mixed grill and black pudding starter.
Make sure you leave room for desert! There's nothing boring or frozen to be found in sight.

“Traditional cosy pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013 via mobile

Traditional cosy pub. Very welcoming.
Every meal was v yummy. Three vegetarian choices, spoilt for choice for a change! Herby potatoes were scrummy! Definitely deserves number one spot.

I was too full for pudding, others managed to try the brûlée which was lovely and light.

Will def visit again when in the area.

“Another great meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2013

I took my wife here the other night for an early Valentines meal and as usual there was a warm welcome to go with the warm log fire. The food was superb and after a starter and the duck main course there was no room for a desert. We were looked after with just the right amount of attention and always a pleasant smile and cheery voice. For a relaxed meal in a traditional old restaurant you can not beat the Black Lion in this part of Wales.
