“Perfection!!”
Reviewed July 23, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Myself & my husband decided to book the Old Kiln as it seemed to be the ideal place to get away from it all. We were not disappointed! It was absolute perfection from the moment we arrived. The location has some fantastic scenery and the cottage and it's garden is immaculately beautiful. Sue and Malcolm have pretty much thought of everything with the added extras, from folders filled with information about local attractions or amenities to emergency items that you may have forgotten to take yourselves. There is very limited mobile phone coverage but there was a pay phone at the end of the lane if you really needed to use one. We really did have a fantastic time there and will definitely be booking again next year (if not before). I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a relaxing, romantic or secluded break.

“What a gem”
Reviewed July 23, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This property is an absolute gem situated on a very quiet road. The garden is lovely and it's so easy to relax above the stream watching all the different birds coming and going. Inside the cottage you'll find everything you need including lots of useful information about the property and surrounding area. It is all very nice and comfortable. I loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat. Cannot wait to return.

“Easter at Pennant (Llanbrynmair) a birders paradise.”
Reviewed April 5, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

we decided as a last minute break to spend Easter in Wales and after trawling the net we discovered The Old Kiln at Pennant. The cottage is situated in private grounds in the tiny village of Pennant and is spacious for a couple to enjoy a well earned break. The large kitchen is fully equipped and is the only holiday let we have found that has usable kitchen knives, being sharp enough to use without the danger of having to force them to cut. The spacious lounge opened out on to a balcony that overlooked the adjacent stream and to the garden. The garden was equipped with bird feeders which were constantly used by a variety of birds while overhead we had buzzards and kites to entertain us. Many walks are located nearby starting from the garden gate. We climbed the local mountain on the forestry road through the trees accompanied by a variety of birds including a L.E.Owl calling from the forest. The local farmer also had a Llama in his home field.
Nearby, (5-6Miles) in another forest a path will lead you to the source of the river seven, passing on the way a very visible Osprey Nest to which the occupants had returned only two days before our visit and were themselves very visible.
A short ride to the Dovey estuary will bring you to the `Springwatch` favoured Ynyshir reserve run by the RSPB. well worth a trip even in the rain, as we had.
All in all we had a great few days. A car is essential.
The property is located on a no through road with virtually no traffic save the very rare farm vehicle. The village consists of about 15 - 20 houses at most

We're so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at The Old Kiln despite the wet weather. I hope you managed to see the Dipper over the Fachdre stream. I also read in the local paper that Seren the osprey has returned to Monty at the Dyfi estuary reserve, glad you got to see our Hafren Forest Ospreys. Thanks for such a positive review and we hope to see you again
Kind regards

“Pictures Don't Do It Justice”
Reviewed September 25, 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Owners Sue and Malcolm, prior to arrival, provided exceptionally clear instructions to locate the place together with helpful information about local area and facilities.
Great welcome.
Lovely place to stay. Nice and roomy for O/Seas visitors with lots of stuff with them.
The setting is sublime with a little stream running down below the outside decking. Quiet and tranquil.

The history of the building’s past is well documented. The restoration of the building (with a few improvements for modern day) is a credit to the designer and the workmen who did the job.
Able to back the car nearly to the entrance door to make transfer of luggage easy.
Includes everything you could think of, then more, to help towards an enjoyable and trouble free stay.
Location great for day trips exploring.
Comfortable bed. And brilliant shower. Large cubicle with strong water pressure.
Easy to control room temperature.
You can see the owner’s small personal accommodation unit from The Old Kiln. That is not a distraction even when they were there over the weekend. During this trip we have stayed in eight holiday lets. Some have been great but would rate The Old Kiln as the best of the lot.
Very good value for money.
