We stayed in July 2013 as a family of 4 (children aged 3 and 4) in the Michigan Lodge. It was fantastic, it was quite last minute and we didn't know what to expect from a lodge - the hot tub seemed very appealing, and for good reason. It is a huge hot tub, on a large decked area which has a roof over - perfect for use in all weather (it rained a couple of times, but it didn't matter). The views from this lodge are stunning - rolling hills, very dramatic. There is also a leisure facility with a good sized heated pool (very family friendly) and sauna/steam room, basic exercise area and a large room with soft play for the kids, as well as TV etc - these were never busy which was nice. The lodge has a huge grass area in front of it too - perfect for the kids to run around in, and it is on a huge farm so lots of space and beautiful surroundings. There is a stream to the side of the lodge, which is fenced off except for access to a bridge/walkway.
You definitely need a car, and there is no phone signal - internet was also intermittent and you pay per device. The staff were all excellent and friendly, and it was very very relaxing. The lodge exceeded expectations, it was very well equipped and clean and very spacious. The only real problem for us was the flies! Hundreds of them, and they don't leave you alone! It must be a problem as fly spray and a swat were provided. Its a working farm, and it was July.
We loved it, we would definitely recommend it.
