Really interesting tour and experience. The Centre specialises in near earth objects. They need funding so please support them and learn something interesting at the same time.

This small centre is at the top of a very steep hill near Knighton, we happened upon it purely by accident. It isn't open every day of the week so check before you make the hike up there. The "Director" was full of interesting facts and figures, I can see he would not be popular with everyone , he often spoke in a condecending manner and had a very dry sense of humour; he also had a huge political agenda, evidenced by anti-government ravings on the notice board as you walk in. If you can look beyond these "shortcomings" though it was informative and not something you'd likely get to see any place else.

We are not astronomers and have a very limited knowledge about the subject, but we spent a brilliant afternoon at the Spaceguard centre recently: Knighton is a pretty little town and handy for Offas Dyke ramblings, however we went to Knighton solely with the intention of visiting the Spaceguard centre having had it recommended by a friend whos interested in astronomy. There was a tour of the facilities they have there and a really informative talk by a gentleman who was entertaining and managed perfectly to tailor his talk to the members of our group which ranged from young children to oldies. He invited questions and stressed that this was in interactive tour, in fact the more questions you ask the more you get out of the time there. We came out having learnt a lot and would highly recommend it as a fab way to pass a couple of hours.

We recently visited The Spaceguard Centre while on holiday in Wales. We had spent most of our time at country houses, gardens and on walks so this was a nice change. The tour took one and a half hours and was enjoyable and very interesting. It was nice to find somewhere to appeal to such a wide age range and although most of our group were 'oldies' it would interest anyone from about 9 years upwards, and any science orientated teenager should particularly enjoy it. As there is a limit to the number of people in each group it is necessary to book but we rang the day before and had no problems in joining the 10.30a.m. tour. Highly recommended.
