“Very enjoyable evening”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Convenient to where we were staying, our first experience (after a walk) was a quick drink.
It appears to have been recently renovated and the feel of the place was both smart and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and all of us decided to visit again during our stay for food.
Having booked ahead, we went on Friday evening. On arrival, we were not rushed at all and invited to relax and have a drink while looking over the menus. My six year old daughter, who was staying up late for a treat, was spoken to directly by the staff as a normal customer but was also brought something to colour-in. The facilities were very clean and the artwork around the walls was eye catching and quite quirky.
The food was very good. My wife and I shared a sea food platter (crayfish, mackerel, whitebait) which was accompanied with bread/olives homemade sauces etc. We enjoyed so much, we would have eaten it again for our main course. Due to frequent disappointments, I often avoid ordering steaks - however, I went for the rib-eye. The steak was cooked as I asked (as was the other one ordered within my group), the chips were home cut and deliciously crunchy on the outside; I was very pleased. Although I did not indulge further, others within my group certainly had no complaints at all. I believe it has rooms, but am unable to comment. On a very busy road - but not noticeable when in the restaurant. However, there is a nice court yard to the rear if you wanted to have a drink outside.

I booked this weekend for a present for my friend and we were very impressed.
We stayed in room 5 and the room was lovely and clean. Massive comfy bed, great teas maid and the shower room was fab. There was a big flat screen tv on the wall and the room felt lovely and roomy.
We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was fantastic along with the welcoming staff and manager. Very helpful and chatty.
It was close to Newtown and Montgomery castle.
Definitely worth a stay at the Nags Head.

Room Tip: Room 5 is lovely

When I came in with my husband by 8 year old son and 13 year old daughter, we recivied a warm welcome said she had a migranine and instantly got offered headache tablets, dark sunglasses so we got a drink and my daughter asked for water and a waiter brought it to us and had a friendly chat and then he said the water is for free and he would of been offended if we had paid for it! Very nice pub nice looking food, even daughter asked to come back again when she is feeling better !

We booked the Hotel for my daughters wedding reception and they gave us exclusive use of the venue from Saturday morning until Sunday morning. From when we booked the venue and our arrival on Friday evening to leaving on Sunday Afternoon the Manager and staff could not have been more helpful. All the guests commented that the food, from a varied menu for the reception, was excellent as was the full English breakfasts. The rooms are all finished to a very high standard and are very comfortable. We would have no hesitation in recommending ''The Nags Head'' to anyone, be it for a meal for 2 or 60 as the Manager and his staff make everyone feel very welcome.

Room Tip: No need they are all excellent

We stayed here for two nights. All staff especially Manager were very friendly and helpful. The decoration everywhere was top notch and the bedroom was very spacious, bathroom with shower cubicle was wonderful, husband was especially impressed with Smart TV which included Sky. Restaurant and food was great. We highly recommend the Nags Head Inn.

Great hotel, wonderful manager, excellent service and food. We would definitely recommend a stay if you are in the area. Nothing is too much trouble and the manager goes beyond the call of duty to ensure your stay is an excellent one. We will certainly be staying there again.

Spent 2 nights here and couldn't fault anything. From the second we walked in we were greeted like a friend, and this set the standard for the weekend - great and friendly service without being intrusive. The room was lovely with an extremely comfortable bed. In addition to this the food was great and good value for the high quality on offer. The location was ideal to explore the area. e.g. Powis Castle. All in all, a great weekend - a place I'd strongly recommend, and will definitely return to - faultless.
