Booked one night midweek and had a large room, nicely decorated, comfy bed, large ensuite with separate bath and shower on the top floor. All great and very much fit for purpose. Shown to our room by a very helpful and friendly young lady.

(It is not the pub's fault that we found that in the still of the night, with the wooden sash windows left ajar, the hourly chime of a nearby church clock can seem very close.)

A couple of pints enjoyed early evening but upon entering the bar a couple of times to replenish our glasses ( sat outside in the sun) the aged, stout men of Laugharne could easily be heard. Were they reciting Dylan Thomas, no, just continually f'ing and blinding with their Welsh lilts as if swearing added some sort of gravitas to what they were saying. Alas other reviews seem to indicate all is not well with certain aspects of this pub's operation which is likely to deflect visitors elsewhere, shame really as it is a good
pub. I can hear the locals now saying in response, "if you don't like it boyo,✌️Somewhere else".

Breakfast is had in a sister hotel called "Browns", excellent ingredients but perhaps cooked by someone being trained and not quite at the stage where they are at the top of their game.

All in all not a bad experience, quite enjoyable and important to remember that when the summer has gone, visitors too, and the business need to survive, it's the locals that save the day!

Room Tip: Probably best to have a room on the top floor.

Hi Paul,

Ah, the 'stout men of Laugharne'. Dylan would have been one of those back in the day. I love the idea that they'd spout poetry, but Dylan only ever said one poem in a Laugharne pub, and only after being nagged by some fans. He stood, up, composed himself and performed 'Itsy Bitsy Spider.'

Quite right that the locals keep the pubs running in off-season. They're a great bunch really. Cheers for your review and glad you enjoyed.

:-)

Jon

Room was fine (although no shower! There was an attachment to bath but it didn't work!) . Nice breakfast. But pub below us was very noisy. It was impossible to get to sleep until 2am on the Friday night and gone midnight on the Saturday. Won't be staying there again.

A nice room, great value in a good location. However, our room was immediately above the bar so, unless you want to party with the locals until closing, it was very noisy. It's cosy and friendly and the food is plentiful, though not top quality.

Room Tip: Don't take the room above the bar if you want to sleep before midnight!

really nice b and b in lovely village of Laugharne. The staff were very friendly and the room was ideal. We ate at the three mariners in the evening and the food was fabulous and very good value. The reason I have left a star off is that I was not so keen on the breakfast the next day at the Browns Hotel (sister property) .. it was a little dry and bland. But the coffee was great and again, the staff were very nice.

As other reviews mentioned, very noisy until about midnight, I accepted there may be noise from staying above a pub but it was excessively loud I could hear it very clearly over the to, I wouldn't have minded if it was in the background as you could just turn the tv up a bit bit it was very loud and seemed to get louder later on probably from when dinner service had finished.
Shame as rooms nice and comfy, bit small but was only me.
Have stayed at sister hotel Browns next door and only reason I came here was because they were fully booked, next time will go elsewhere.
Wouldn't stay again based on noise.
Had breakfast next door as always very nice but didn't need to sit and listen to staff moaning to each other about how busy they were and slagging off other people, maybe if they did more work and talked about it less they would get stuff done!!
