We called in the afternoon at 3.30pm(ish) on a Tuesday & they were still serving the full menu. We ordered at the bar & went to sit in the pleasant garden. The young lady that took our order was very nice & the food arrived promptly (it was quiet).
It was well presented & very nice. My friend & I had a pint of very fresh prawns (that were apparently delivered that morning) & they were exceptional! Our husbands had prawn sandwiches.
The food was slightly above average price-wise, but was very good.
They have rooms for hire & the restaurant is situated just at the edge of the City of St David's.
When sitting outside, beware of the hungry/greedy seagulls.

We had arranged a large function here, 70+ guests only to be told on confirming numbers that no booking had been made, and that the restaurant could not seat more than 40 - this all happening four days before said function. An obstreperous female manager confounded the problems with demanding a deposit, and accusing the arranger of twisting the facts - no mention had been made up to this point, of a deposit. And inspite of the large booking, Chicken Supreme(!) at a cost of £15.50 per head was the best they could do. No need to mention that the booking was withdrawn and given to an independently run hostelry with a two meat carvery and a choice of puddings... Sad to see such a well respected, family run hotel and restaurant now ruined by corporate stuffiness and rule making - its a no 'brainer' really, I wouldn't eat here again if you paid me to. Staff retraining needs to be a priority.

We ate here twice in a day. True! Great fresh food. Trendy spot. It is confusing at first because you have to order like fast food and then sit like at a restaurant. Food is good. Meatballs and pot pie are amazing! We ate here early at lunch and then brought friend back later? Also had grilled cheese and sop. Very good. Overall, nice but I've had better....especially service. I'd come back but for lunch.

We had a very nice meal hear on a sunny evening sitting in the walled garden.

We opted for the fish and chips with mushy peas. The fish batter was crisp and the chips well cooked.

I would definitely eat here again if I was in the area.

Sorry Grove Hotel, but it still appears to be very hit and miss in your main bar restaurant! When it's good, it's good, but when it's bad, it's awful and as a customer that's not fair. The food seemed tired and stale and tasteless and at the prices charged, it's really not on!

The following evening we all went to a fantastic little pub in Solva called The Ship, half way down the main street in lower Solva, and for a lot less cost, had a superb meal from start to finish, beautifully cooked and presented. Brilliant staff in The Ship Solva, so no guesses as to where we will eat out in the future!
