While lost in Wales a gentleman giving us directions- suggested this hotel. The common areas are very well kept. The breakfast room is a step above. Our service in all areas was excellent. The area of the rooms are clean, maintained and sparsely appointed. The hotel is like a well worn book - a bit musty but worth visiting. This is an older hotel with creaks and squeaks. It does not have a lift, but staff members are willing to carry luggage.
Everyone working at this hotel should be applauded for keeping the ship afloat.

Lovely food but thought the bedroom was dated and didn't feel very clean
Hardly any hot water and the shower was more a trickle.
Expensive room rate too
Overall ok but could be better so much potential

Had a fantastic weekend in haverfordwest helped by the warm, friendly welcome received by this quaint hotel in the heart of the town. The rooms were extremely clean and well presented and the way we were looked after was very good. I couldn't have asked for a better service.

My company booked me into this hotel though I knew of several others in the vicinity of the town where I had enjoyed good experiences on previous visits. The Mariners is in desperate need of refurbishment and modernisation, and it really provides the sort of experience only pot-war guests might have accepted at a time of great austerity. The rooms are dark and uninviting with various pieces of cheap period furniture arranged in a poorly considered manner. The carpets are threadbare and there is inadequate lighting and deskspace for work. The bathroom had been given a make-over but the shower proved to be more of a 'dribble' and the shaver mirror light did not function. I might have contacted 'house-keeping, but there were several other bulbs in the bedroom and walk-in wardrobe which also did not function, so I reluctantly couldn't be bothered to report these issues as it was likely to have proved to be a very protracted disturbance to get them sorted. However, the issue which really 'put the tin hat' on the visit was the fact that there were blankets on the bed rather than a duvet: I cannot imagine a potentally more unhygienic sleeping exprience as such blankets will have been re-used without washing for innumerable guest visits. Unfortunately, my wife accompanied me on this business trip and I a still trying to 'make up' for the experience.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel!

Stayed at the mariners whilst away on business. It's an old hotel but there has been some refurbishment so overall the accommodation
was good. The corridors and stairwells are a little tired and the floor boards like to creak but you expect that from an old place. The food in the bar is very good and I was surprised at the standard and quantity, would highly recommend eating at the mariners and would stay there again on business but whether I,d stay there if I was paying for it is a different question. If visiting Haverfordwest then try the bar for a meal.
