“Most romatic restaurant in Haverfordwest”
Reviewed October 13, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I came here for a meal on a Saturday night. It wasn't too busy, the lighting is quite dimmed but perfect, and the service was lovely. The choice of starter was a bit limiting, but there was 2 menu's so you seemed to be able to choose from fine dining or classic!

We had an extra course in the form of a shot of soup, compliments of the chef, which was beautiful. My pate was average, whilst my husbands meat platter was nice but perhaps a bit pretentious. For mains we had steak and duck - both cooked perfectly and we really enjoyed. For dessert we had affogato, which was lovely.

The service and atmosphere were really good, apparently our food took quite some time, however I was unaware of this as I didn't notice anyone else whilst we were in there. As a result, the waitress didn't charge us for our dessert or coffees, which I found a very nice gesture considering the lack of complaint!

I would come back here, but probably only on anniversaries or birthdays. The food was lovely & the atmosphere perfect.

“Classic menu”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

Eaten here a few times now and not been disappointed yet. The welcome is very good, the staff are friendly & helpful, a rarity these days. There is a fine dining menu and a new classic menu so this time he could have his usual steak and chips while I had a delightful sous vide breast of Duck. Anyway excellent food, very tasty & very large portions. Prices are quite low too for what you get.

“Birthday treat”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

I thought it would be a nice idea to take my wife here for a birthday treat. It turned out to be a treat for both of us! The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was lovely... Not to mention the food which was outstanding!!! It will most defiantly be a regular venue for us now... And not just for birthdays!

A friend of mine came to visite us but it was bad weather that day.

Because of the very bad weather we went to the very nearby Shire Hall for lunch.

The food was excellent, they provide fantastic steak. The service was good, also comfortable atmosphere.

We will be very happy visiting them again!

“Excellent service and food even on a quiet night”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

We took a chance on this one. The locals recommended it and they refer to it as the Black Sheep.and it located just off the main square.

The building has two restaurants inside, one is pizza/pasta and then the other which looked better from the menu posted outside.

All three courses were spot on, we had Roast Belly of Pork and pan fried Chicken Livers for starters and for the main course Sous Vide Duck Breast and Ling fillet with a chowder. Pistachio tart and local cheeses to finish up. The garnish and portion size were impressive. Tere was also an amuse bouche to start with.

The wine list was acceptable and the selection of bottled beers included Shepherd and Neame's Bishops Finger and they stock Beck's Blue low alcohol lager..

The presentation was spot on and even though there were only four of us in the restaurant the service by Abigail was friendly and expert.

Definitely worth a look, but don't judge from the outside, it looks like an old Civic Hall which it s, and the owner of the building has taken it over from the previous people who ran the restaurant. Climb up a flight and a half of stairs and enjoy a good meal.
