“The perfect holiday stay - can't rate it highly enough!”
Reviewed October 5, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We had a wonderful stay at Trefrane House and Lodge with lots of family at the end of August / early September. What a beautiful house - so much space. Everything we could possibly need. The owners bent over backwards to make sure everything we needed was there. Great outdoor space too for our football-crazy boys.
Such a lovely place to come back to at the end of a beach day. An easy walk to Newgale beach and the beautiful coastal paths.
So glad we ignored the previous review. It really is as lovely as it looks in the photographs.

Liked best: The amount of space and the versatility these properties offered.
Liked least: It can't be helped, but the positioning of the barn next door - right in the way of the view!

“Poor standard or cleanliness and maintenance”

Quality Cottages promote that they personally inspect each property.

Upon our arrival this July we were disappointed to find a dirty property full of cobwebs, black mould behind a bedroom chest of drawers and what appeared to be years of food crumbs in kitchen cupboards and between settee cushions.

We spent the first few hours of our holiday vacuuming every room and it was obvious a thorough clean had not been carried out for some considerable time.

Most concerning was the fact that 5 of the UPVC windows locking mechanisms did not function meaning that 5 windows, including 1 downstairs window, could easily be opened by simply pulling from the outside or pushing from the inside. Some of the upstairs windows were in our young children's bedrooms so all in all not a secure property where you felt safe.

We contacted the property owners direct who did resolve some of the immediate hygiene issues and arranged for a window repair engineer to visit within a couple of days. That said it was obvious that the problems we encountered had taken some time to accumulate and we wonder how frequently the property is properly checked before re-letting ?

The photos on this and other websites show a newly decorated property looking all clean and inviting as a holiday home. The property itself is a great although lacking in some basic items. However, our experience when arriving at this property meant that the first few days of our holiday was very different to what we had been expecting.
