Owner description: The Welsh Quilt Centre opened in Lampeter Town Hall in 2009 to celebrate the Welsh Quilt and to promote a wider understanding of the importance of this regional art form. Here you can enjoy stunning exhibitions of Welsh Quilts in the gallery, attend quilt-related courses or just browse the intriguing Welsh Quilt Centre Gallery Shop. The original cottage shop in Llanybydder also remains open.

Thought it might be an OK place to visit......how wrong was I, the exhibition is breathtaking, both my daughter an I did a 'WOW' when we first walked in the exhibition room, so colourful and vibrant, a feast on the eyes. Welsh quilts from times gone by and the Kaffe Fassett Quilts hung from the ceiling of a very impressive room. A wonderful visit, ran by two delightful ladies, my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our hour gazing enviously at these beautiful works of art

“Who says 'You can't'?!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

The Welsh Quilt Centre is a triumph of Creativity and Creative Thinking - and an encouragement to anyone who feels that there is something unsaid or unexpressed in their lives. Jen Jones and her team welcome visitors of all kinds to admire the beautiful and imaginative work of sometimes unknown needlewomen from Wales and beyond - and offer an additional inspiration in exemplary exhibitions like the current Kaffe Fassett quilts. The counterpoint of folk and fashion lifts the heart and stays in the mind. Equally heartening is the sensitive heritage preservation of the building, Lampeter Town Hall. The books, quilt-products and kits on sale support the ethos of the venture and reflect the graciousness of welcome by all concerned. Nearby, a craft-shop, good Lampeter cafes and nearby parking help to support any visitor experience. I travelled by train then bus to get to this exhibition and found public transport reliable; vistas of superb Welsh countryside from a bus or train counterbalance the superb detail of quilts but help one understand how the landscape may have helped inspire the art. Bravo, believers!
