“Cold, uninviting!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2012 for a stay in January 2012

Arriving at the arranged time, 8.45pm,there where no lights on and we had to telephone the owner to tell her we had arriaved as she did not answer the door, (no door bell). We where shown into the cold (NO HEATING ON!!) annexe., not very inviting. The bedroom was freezing and the bed felt slightly damp, Spare blanket in the wardrobe was very grubby.. as was the mattress protector. After a very cold night we discovered the toliet was leaking, bathroom floor flooded. The provided breakfast was very poor., not the usual Welsh fare. One very small egg each person dated two days beforehand, small loaf and a small amount of butter., jam in fridge about to go out of date. The accomadation was clean and with a bit more effort would be delightful and more homely. Had to keep all the curtians closed untill dressed as there was no priviecy! All in all very disappointing and where glad to leave, didnt feel welcome, would never go back.

Management Response
Feb 7, 2012
In response I would like to say that the underfloor heating was on - unfortunately we had decorated in-between bookings and turned the heating off and opened windows. Underfloor heating takes a while to really get up to steam and hadnt reached it full potential when this customer arrived. I do put my hand up to say that I should have checked that the heating was adequate before our guests arrived (we had been out for the day). It is usual for us to put an oiled filled radiator in the annexe to boost the temperature should the weather turn particularly cold. The toilet was fixed the next day - there had been no problem with the toilet up until this point. The duvet is a 4 seasons feather one and the guests that had been in the annexe before had only wanted to use the Autumn part due to the warm winter. The extra layer is in the drawers under the bed.
We do not supply breakfast for the self catering unit, but we do however supply a generous Welcome Pack - plenty of loo rolls, caddies of tea / coffee / sugar; milk, bread, eggs (dated the day they are laid so on this occasion were two days old and very fresh!), some butter; plus other store cupboard items to help make the stay more comfortable.
Curtains had also been washed prior to this customers visit and all other items left in the annexe for our quests convenience (cushions, blankets etc) are washed regularly to ensure they are clean and fresh.
We do usually make a point of welcoming our guests. Due to the layout of the house and driveway it is difficult to know when someone arrives, especially in the evening when we have come in for the day.
As with our usual welcome, we usually say goodbye to our guests and at this point talk to them about their stay - had we been given the opportunity we could have discussed all problems with this guest before they left.

“Heaven on earth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2011 for a stay in August 2011

This holiday was fantastic, lovely scenery and walks, the beaches very long and very clean, The annexe was first rate, and Cathy and Paul were so kind and considerate and friendly you felt as if you'd known them for years. The annexe was immaculate and putting goodies in fridge was a great idea. I would suggest anyone to have a holiday here. I will definately go back. Can't praise this place enough.
