“Clean, modern, excellent price and facilities.”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Comfortable stay, modern, clean rooms, use of gym. Busy at breakfast time....get there early no problem..Difficult to find if you don't know the area very well. Staff helpful. Book early and you will get room at discounted price...Shame that there aren't any twin bedrooms to accomodate single parent and one teenager.

Thank you for your positive comments.
You make a great point with regard to the twin room option, we have since we opened been asked by many guests for this.
I am please to say as of February we now have converted 28 of our Queen rooms to dedicated twins rooms with additional storage space for the many and varied customer requirements.
When you are next visiting us, please ask for this option, I’m sure you will be impressed
Come back soon

The hotel itself is as good as it was last time we were here: the rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and the staff everything you'd expect in a Hilton.

The inclusive buffet breakfast was hot, the selection was more than adequate in quality and quantity and as the hotel was quiet, there was no undignified scrambling for space or cutlery.

There's free internet in the rooms and wifi in the bar area if you can ignore the TV tuned to sport or game shows..

Unfortunately, the restaurant menu lets the hotel down. The selection is limited and highly skewed towards those who enjoy fish, or chillies and peppers. Three beef dishes featured - frozen beef lasagne anybody?!

Oh, and if you're vegetarian there are two options - plain pizza or roasted vegetables.

I have food allergies and hate fish, but a well planned menu includeds gammon, lamb, pasta dishes or chicken in simple sauces. Not here! The restaurant staff did not comment on plates returned half eaten - maybe they're used to it. We should have gone into the village.

No doubt we'll stay here again, but we'll eat elsewhere.

Thank you for your constructive comments.
We are very proud of our hotel and the service we always endeavour to deliver.
It is true the Hampton brand does not offer formal dining facilities, but we always try to offer a range of dishes for customers who are not looking for the full restaurant experience, and we do offer advice and recommend a range of fantastic restaurants in the nearby area.
But we have also taken note of our customers who do wish to see more choice, so we have launched a new menu with a far greater range of dishes, and additional ‘theme’ nights.
I am sure when you return you will see the improvements we have made.

Book early enough, prepay and get a very good rate, but be aware that the hotel is some distance from Newport and is currently difficult to find due to roadworks. After all the cones have been negotiated, it is still difficult to see the entrance to the hotel, particularly in the dark.
My ground floor room was luxurious but freezing cold, probably as a result of defective heating, which I think was also responsible for the noise which awoke me at intervals throughout the night. It was clearly an ongoing problem, because an electric heater had been left in the room - out of sight behind the curtain! Even so, the standard is high and, booked well in advance, it is excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Make sure the heating/air conditioning system is fully operational; if not, ask for another room..

Booked the Hampton as it was nearby a for a friend's 40th party. Fond the staff helpful and polite, with the room was clean and modern, though the modern lights were a little dim. Bathroom was fresh and clean. The complimetry free breakfast was great value for money with lots of choice. Overall a really good experience and great value for £39 (for a family room)

This Hotel is Hilton's answer to the Travelodge or Premiere Inn's but don't let this put you off.
The good News...rooms are comfortable, modern, large flat screen TV's fair sized bathroom, all you'd expect from a Hilton Hotel except slightly down graded. Reception was smart and welcoming. Staff were friendly and we were quickly booked in.
All in all I could recommend this Hotel to almost anyone on a budget.

The Not so good news. Nightmare to reach after leaving the motorway ! This is because of extensive roadworks that apparently have been there ages.
We were sent up and down roads that almost had our Sat.Nav. cursing at us ! The annoying thing was that we could see the Hotel but actually getting on to the right slip road would have made a Boy Scout swear !
We eventually arrived...Phew ! This problem will hopefully go away when the roadworks have finished ! Ample car parking space (Free).
Breakfast was adequate, the cooked breakfast was warm(ish) but only Tea-plates were available to eat it off! Pretty good selaction of cereals and fruit juices. On a budget?,give it a go.

This is a very good value hotel near the M4 motorway. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Free wifi and newspapers. The breakfast was the normal Hampton by Hilton fare - perfectly adequate if not very exciting. Didn't eat anything else some cannot comment on the other food. It is in the middle of nowhere, so only suitable for motorists. Receptionist was a bit cool on check-in, but rest of the staff were very friendly. Very handy location for visiting the nearby wetlands centre and the two nearby roman towns. Newport itself was a bit of a letdown.

Great place to stay. A little bit out of the way, but quite and confortable. Need to get to breakfast a little bit earlies than you think as they do run out of things. Good value for money and well worth the money. Room service is hit and miss. Staff were great and very helpful. I would say that food was not cooked as fresh food, more like microwave food, but it was edible. Would not want a lovely evening eating there with a special guest, you would have to go out to eat. Food places are only a couple of minutes away.
