We've stayed here a lot which gives us the advantage of knowing exactly which stream to go to...which mountain to climb....which gastro restaurant is great etc. The cottages have access to a petting zoo/rescue centre right opposite which is obviously a big hit with the little ones. The farm is dog friendly but please be warned if you don't like dogs or children this is probably not the place for you. The cottage gardens are communal and there a lot of both species here! Bring your wellies! Things you must do here include climb the Skirrid. (You can do this from farm. No car). Visit the Skirrid Inn and ask for the key to room 2. (It's haunted). Visit Fanny's grave (the last witch to be hung here). Visit Abergavenny (best restaurant The Angel Hotel) and Hay on Wye. (best restaurant Tomatitos). Locally whilst the Skirrid Inn is fun and within walking distance, the gastro pub the Crown at Pantygelli is 3 miles away. Drive over Hay Bluff. Drive upto Forest Coal pit and walk upto the reservoir. Visit Llanthony. There is food/bar here but not dog friendly so on hot day leave dogs at home! Great walking from here!
We have just come back from a fab week's holiday! The cottage itself was amazing and totally exceeded our expectations; beautiful inside and had everything you could need. Wifi is really good too, which is always a bonus.
It is set in a lovely part of the world, and so easy to find. The farm was fantastic - the kids really enjoyed playing outside with all the animals, and the children really made our two feel welcome. George is missing his best friend Tom and is desperate for us to go back!
Absolutely can't say enough good things about our stay. So much to do in the local area too! There is no time to get bored. We are definitely planning to come back!
Comfortable well-equipped cottage, great place for animal-lovers and children - dog-friendly, places to play and eat outside, and lots of animals to meet. You do hear them - waking up in the morning, you remember you're on a farm. We liked the alpaca best! Homemade cake when we arrived, and Richard couldn't have been more helpful. This is a beautiful part of the country and we're sure we will be back to explore more of the Black Mountains.
