Owner description: The Talyllyn Railway is a historic narrow gauge steam railway, being the Worlds First preserved Railway!. Our track runs for 7.25miles from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol through unspoilt Snowdonia. Our station at Tywyn is also home to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum, Railway Shop and King's Licensed Cafe & Bistro. The line passes the delightful Dolgoch Falls and there are excellent forest walks at Nant Gwernol. We offer a great day out for all the family, allow 4 hours for a round trip, visit to the museum and something to eat!. Groups receive a discount when booked in advance.

There is something very appealing about riding the narrow gauge railways of Wales and there is none finer than the Talyllyn line. Keen enthusiasts and volunteers keep this historic train running well past the busy summer season. The journey takes as you up a beautiful valley through well preserved tiny stations. On the return journey it stops for about 30 minutes in a station where coffee and snacks are served. The railway line was once owned by the Reverend Wilbert Vere Awdry and has a great museum dedicated to Thomas and friends. A good day out for the kids and even better in the fall for a quieter trip for adults and enthusiasts of these great little steam engines. For the best view take the last carriage.

Quaint little trains running through interesting scenary with period carriages. An excellent museum at Towyn Wharf station featuring very old engines and the Rev Awdry, the Thomas the Tank Engine Man. Excellent facilities at Towyn and a very friendly staff - well worth a visit!

Lovely trip on a preserved line I have known since 1953. I return again and again. Love the area. The people are friendly and the food is good in the cafe.
