There is something very appealing about riding the narrow gauge railways of Wales and there is none finer than the Talyllyn line. Keen enthusiasts and volunteers keep this historic train running well past the busy summer season. The journey takes as you up a beautiful valley through well preserved tiny stations. On the return journey it stops for about 30 minutes in a station where coffee and snacks are served. The railway line was once owned by the Reverend Wilbert Vere Awdry and has a great museum dedicated to Thomas and friends. A good day out for the kids and even better in the fall for a quieter trip for adults and enthusiasts of these great little steam engines. For the best view take the last carriage.
