This unassuming storefront restaurant in a small Wales town known mainly for its wonderful steam railway (the Tallylyn) served up some of the best meals during our recent trip to the U.K. All of the fish dishes were perfect -- fresh and light with a tasty batter. Besides chips (which were fine), they also had baked (jacket) potatoes that were very flavorful. And the mushy peas were great, not dried out like those we had elsewhere. The sirloin steak and ham-steak special were also excellent. There are only about 10 tables, so be sure to book ahead on weekends. Our server was pleasant, efficient, and full of good suggestions. And we loved the instrumental 60s music!
