Visited the gaol with my wife and can only say it is well worth it. Good entrance price and really good staff, informative and really helpful. The audio guide is a must for 50p extra and brings it all to life. The gaol is a great historical visit reflecting the times of the prison and I can only sing its praises most highly.

bad weather put my wife and I going to the coast so opted for the tour of Ruthin Gaol. Might not be everyone's cup of tea but we found it an interesting tour and well worth the admission, would highly recommend the audio guide as you walk round.

This museum is only 10 miles from home; has been open for 10 years; and we've only just discovered it when it was featured on the BBC Antiques Road Trip!
Well worth passing 2-3 hours exploring the very atmospheric environment. Obviously does well with school educational visits, but should be publicised more widely. It's a fascinating gem in the centre of Ruthin.

Visited the Gaol in addition to the Denbighshire archives, both in the same building, and had a really interesting time. The staff are ver knowledgable and willing to help and to explain. A very worthwhile visit - I will go again!

We visited the gaol last summer with our 2 young children whilst staying at plas efenychtyd B and B. I found it really fascinating and it makes you apreciate how easy we have it nowadays! The staff were very friendly and knowledgable and the entry was reasonably priced. We bought a combination ticket which allowed entry into nantclwyd y dre and plas newyd which worked out slightly cheaper!
