Description: This stunning, 16th century public house has been at the heart of Llanfwrog life for several centuries, having served travellers and locals on the outskirts of the beautiful medieval market town of Ruthin for nearly 500 years. Our historic Grade II listed building has recently undergone a major refurbishment, bringing the inn and the facilities on offer up to date without losing any of the charm and character that have made it such an enduring and enchanting feature of the picturesque Vale of Clwyd for hundreds of years. We also have a brand new beer garden with 6 individual patios, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The bar itself offers a fantastic selection of draft beers and lagers - including locally produced ales from the renowned Buzzard Brewery - while our impressive wine list has been hand-picked for us by our very own wine importer.

The place could do with a lick of paint and if I hadn't of heard good things about the pub I probably wouldn't have eaten there, but the staff were absolutely lovely! The food was brilliant, the chicken cooked better than anywhere I've had it before (!!) and the portions were generous! The atmosphere would greatly improve if the place got spruced up; besides that, brilliant!

I have eaten here quite a few times, with groups of friends. It is an old pub, with lovely log fires, beams etc. Staff are friendly and helpful and will try hard to seal with special requests etc.. The menu is comprehensive and includes 3 or 4 vegetarian options. As a vegi, it is great to see meals other than veg lasagne and stroganoff! The food is tasty, reasonably priced. Portions are perhaps a bit too generous. They have a selection of nice wines and beer.
The decor in the dining room is a little dated, but it is warm and cosy, and clean.
This is a good place if you want a good meal at a reasonable price. Recommended!

Good bar food and service. Waitstaff was very friendly and helped us think of things to do in the area. Thursday was open mike night for local musicians to perform upstairs. They even asked if we'd like to sing for them!
