My husband and I stayed at the Valley Hotel on a KGB deal for the weekend of 3rd / 4th January 2014. We were a little apprehensive from a couple of views on Tripadvisor and the hotel from the outside does appear a little dated. However inside they have been upgrading it gradually and from the moment we arrived we were made welcome. A chap was sat behind the check in desk and asked us if we could wait one moment while he fetched someone to book us in. Check in was quick and easy and we were given room 5. Now this was on the corner of the building on the front facing both the main road to Holyhead and the main road to Trearddur Bay right by the traffic lights. My husband and I thought the noise level would be high, but in all fairness due to the new outlay of the dual carriage way direct into Holyhead, these roads are relatively quiet late evening and slight busy during to day with locals coming and going. Our room decor was lovely, bathroom had recently been refurbished and was inviting along with the bedroom which had matching decor. The bedding was lovely and clean, and the pillows and mattress made a very comfortable stay. We ventured down to the bar, and were welcomed by lovely staff who had reserved a table for us in the restaurant area but you can also choose if you wish to eat in the bar. The KGB menu had quite a good selection to offer, however you were given the choice to pick off the main menu and pay the small extra cost. We couldn't fault the food, compliments to the chef we really enjoyed our food. Nacho's and sweet chilli chicken for starter, with a pay extra option from the main of Fish and chips, served in traditional news paper theme and chip basket, with peas, and Half / half of rack of ribs and chicken breast bites. To be fair we couldn't even eat our dessert as we were so full. Second night friends joined us for a meal and once again it was lovely and they thoroughly enjoyed their's and also ate their desserts they said were scrummie, as again we were too full . Breakfast on our first day was all the condiments fresh orange/ grapefruit / perculated coffee, different tea's, cereal, toast, jam and selection of cooked breakfast. We opted for cooked and it was lovely. We didn't make it for the second day as we had enjoyed such a wonderful evening with our friends in the restaurant the night before that I was a little delicate to say the least. The staff were lovely, friendly and attentive, we felt so comfortable in what was a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant was very busy on Saturday night and there was a party on in another room however the service we received was second to none and the flow of everything was streamline. Food was served piping hot and within a reasonable time length, along with service with a smile. We would like to thank Menai and all her staff who gave us one of the most enjoyable mini breaks in a long time. Weather was really bad, rain and floods and high winds, but it was made up by the hospitality we received at the Valley Hotel and on that note! YES we will definitely be staying again even though a KGB deal we would be happy to pay the standard rate for the hotel as it offers what is written on the bottle and no hidden extra's.........
