“A very nice stay”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

Stayed here with my partner on 20th October for one night.
Nice welcome at reception. Unfortunately we were informed that the swimming pool was out of action for the whole weekend - one of the things we had been particularly looking forward to was a relax in the pool as we had spent most of the day on the coastal path. I wish we had been informed of this at the time of booking as it did put a bit of a dampener on the weekend.
Our room was very nice with modern, clean decor. The room was airy with a good sized bathroom. The shower was overhead type - powerful and hot - perfect!!
Our room had no view but we didnt mind. Breakfast was buffet type. Hot, plentiful in a nice setting. Overall our stay was great - the closed pool the only major letdown.

Room Tip: Room 21 had no view and there was a gap under the door however if I was given this room again I wou...

Stayed one night as a special treat, the location is lovely overlooking the sea.

Lovely greeting at reception but the room just disappointed. The bed felt small, cheap and uncomfortable and despite no energetic activity would continually work its way away from the wall throughout the night meaning that the pillows kept falling off the top! The bathroom was on a platform and the TV was tiny thing stuck to the wall. Coffee making facilities were good. It just lacked the justification on the price.

In terms of food the breakfast in the morning was lovely, buffet-style cooked. The choice in the evening is rather limited - there was no choice in working distance so we had to eat in the downstairs restaurant whose menu offered a strange selection of a lot of things with chips. No nice salads and I think one option with rice. Food was mediocre pub food which surprised me considering how busy it was!

Room Tip: Try to get one without low beams or you may risk knocking yourself out.

We stayed here overnight after attending a function in the Penrhos Suite. The room was large, as was the bathroom. Complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits and water in the room. Our biggest disappointment was the lack of a view from the window.. we were in room 12. We did have problems with the air conditioner unit ... most of the time it was blowing cold air, even though we set it a low temp, in the end we turned it off completely
The meal at the evening function was excellent, with plenty of veg selection and very tender beef, and plenty of staff to serve.
Breakfast was a little on the slow side if you were ordering anything that was not on the buffet eg scrambled or poached eggs, however there was an excellent selection of hot and cold dishes on the buffet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the bay. not the back otherwise you will get a garden fence for the view!!!

We stayed here during the summer for one night before taking the ferry from Holyhead. Lovely clean hotel. Friendly staff. The bar area appeared very popular and was busy when we arrived. We ate in the restaurant and had a lovely meal. Rooms decorated nicely.

just returned from a weeks holiday.great location with superb rooms.staff very friendly and manager good with any problems. we was in room 706 which is a very large room (family room). when i booked the hotel the 2 questions i asked was - do you take dogs (yes) and can you get free wi-fi (internet) in the rooms (yes). was very dissapointed when i couldnt get any signal in the room ! this after being told i could when booking. we complained about this,as its also in there brochure and on the web site. also in this room is 2 tv's (one you can only get one channel on ?) spoke to the manager who was brilliant - moved us to room 7 - what a fantastic room with sea view. we ate in the pub/bar - good choice but very expensive. quality of food 6/10. good choice buffet style for breakfast, but at busy times (ie weddings or weekends) the staff were like headless chickens. didnt seem like any organisation - guests waiting for eggs, toast. we asked for fresh toast and waited nearly 10mins (had to ask 3 times) found this to be poor.(dont know why they dont invest in a toaster where you do the toast yourself- this saves wasted toast as most people like fresh warm toast ! manager please take note !) hotel needs a manager/supervisor to keep things moving at breakfast ! as i said good choice of food = eggs, sausage, black pudding, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans (not heinz),bacon. muffins, cerials, juices, yogurts, fresh fruit inc.strawberries, good quality teas, coffee. beach just across road (2 mins walk).local shops, takeaway, cafe and other hotels in the bay with excellent food. nice and relaxing hotel which just needs slight re-tuning. i write this review to be honest and fair. dont be put off as you will love the hotel, location, friendly staff and a great manager who takes time to listen to any problems and takes note. will return for sure as we was looked after. not much to shout about in nearby holyhead (5 mins away) retail park 3 mins away has tesco, morrisons, kfc, and other retail shops. macdonalds next to asda in holyhead. just 5 mins away for ferry port for ferry to belfast & dublin in ireland. so a great hotel to stay in if on the way for ferries ! angelsey great for bays / coves / beaches. llandudno 35 mins away. snowdon less than a hour away.

Room Tip: avoid room 706. room 7 excellent (rooms 6 & 8 look very good) most rooms look great. quiet eve...

This was a lovely friendly hotel and with great food and only 10 mins from the ferry in Holyhead. Wished I could have got there earlier to have had time for a walk as it's right by the sea. The beds are sooooo comfortable
