“Basic accommodation at basic cost”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We stayed for 3 nights in Trearddur Holiday Bungalows, in a Cybi bungalow, arranged last-minute by calling the owners direct.

We got pretty much what we paid for. Accommodation was basic, but clean. On arrival the room smelt a little musty, maybe because it was late season and it hadn't been used for a few weeks. All bedding was clean and well presented.

I was a pre-teen child the last time I went on a UK self-catering holiday, so had forgotten things like no towels provided, and so a quick trip to the Tesco in Holyhead [about 5 mins drive away] was needed.

Central heating was provided for free, and used every evening as it the evenings were chilly. It gave out good heat and the bungalow quickly warmed up.

The double bed in the main room was not very comfortable, the mattress was tired and produced back ache. However, unlike a previous reviewer our bed did not have a fixed footboard, so all 6'3" of me could stretch out.

Wireless internet access was also provided and was of a good speed, I managed to watch sports on SkyGo every evening without a problem.

We didn't use the bar/club or the swimming pool, but they are available on site. The main beach is about 5 mins walk away from the site, with smaller coves and shingle bays closer by. A few miles drive away in one direction is Holyhead, in another direction is South Stack light house.

All in all, we got what we paid for. A late notice family break, self catering, in basic accommodation, in a good location, for around £60 a night.

always go in a kingsland ,have the same one each year
heating in the winter and electric are in the price , so when we arrive in oct we just turn the heating to 24hrs and we don't worry about the kids having games or phones plugged in
washing machine in bungalow so do the wash put the cloths on the rads and there dry by the time you get back
Tesco/morrisons just a pop up the road for the weekly shop and there are some nice places for eating out should you wish, always found the food good in the club house and price wise not bad
beach's just a walk away ,swim play or go crabbing
great base to take day trips out of with plenty on the island to see or stuff just off the island
would say a must with kids is pili palas as they get to hold the animals there with the staf at no extra cost

Room Tip: always go for a kingsland as the heating and electric are in the price better value

Arrived at the Anglesey Bungalows, Trearddur Bay an hour earlier than stated on the Hoseasons information pack. The young woman on reception checked us in, gave us a map of the site, card for the pool/club and the key to the bungalow stating that the cleaners had just finished.( A good array of leaflets available on places to visit as well as the folder in your bungalow.) The second key was in the door and all the windows were open, possibly to help the floor to dry as it had obviously just been mopped, or perhaps to air the bungalow as there was a definite musty smell. The bungalow was a good size and we had a sea view although I agree with other comments tired and dated and not very clean for the amount of money that it had cost approx. £100.00 per night self catering. Yes we also found the bathroom plughole full of hairs from previous occupants yuk! this is obviously an area that gets frequently overlooked and we also set to cleaning the kitchen. The cooker was clean and so was the foil under the hob. The smoke alarm was a bit sensitive, it beeped at steam from cooking, but better to be safe than sorry. The beds were comfy and the sheets were clean although the 5th bed was missing so after a 'teenage strop' and much laughter from the rest of us, the staff got it sorted whilst we went out exploring. The bungalows are in a great location whether you want to stay local or explore the whole of Anglesey and we made the most of our 4 days. I loved the working windmill, my husband enjoyed watching the boats/ferries in Holyhead and exploring the many beaches, our teenage boys enjoyed going crab fishing (you see they are never too old) and our daughter loved the indoor pool on site and wanted to take the black and white rabbit that roams the site home, so keep a look out for it. The bungalows were popular with guests bringing their dogs, which is fine, but I wonder if the owners of the site have thought about having some bungalows entirely pet free? The reason being that during our stay pet hair just kept on appearing and we had left our dog at home! Make the effort and visit the clubhouse its cleaner than it looks from the outside and the children seem to enjoy the games room. We ate in the restaurant once, the food is ok but a bit pricey for nothing out of the ordinary. It rained on our last day but at least we could lock up and go, as initially we had thought of camping and we have been washed out of Wales in the past so this was luxury of a sort. Memories of this holiday . . . we laughed alot.

Room Tip: Can't remember the exact number of our room but it was 40 something and you could see the sea fr...

We got back from Trearddur Bungalows Yesterday (31st Aug 2013) On arrival.. we were pleasantly surprised at the size of the bungalow, we had booked a kingsland, as we are a large family of 6, 2adults and 4 children, 8,5,2 and 1 & travelled by train.. so this was fab for us, as bedding etc was included. It wasn't overally clean and I had to go buy bleach wipes to give the kitchen and bathroom a quick wipe over, hair was left in bath plug and skirting boards were abit diry!! However, this didn't put us off. Was a little outdated and smelt like damp... again, we didn't let it spoil our holiday as it had gorgeous surroudings, perfect views and the kids loved every second. The clubhouse was abit poor, but again, if we had done our research b4 we had booked then we would have prepared ourselves. (having only stayed in Haven sites when having UK holidays I expected a little bit more) The food in the Clubhouse was OK.. bit overpriced for what you get, we ate a few times at The Waterfront, on the beach which is about a 10min walk away, lovely walk in perfect surroundings. Fell lucky with the weather and spent everyday on the beach, the kids loved the pebbly beach right opposite the bungalows where they went looking for crabs. Would def recommend this place and would def visit again. Checked in earlier than expected, staff friendly, Beds were comfy, kitchen was lovely, maybe a shop/icecream van, a little tlc and updating is needed, but it certainly doesn't ruin ur holiday.

Room Tip: Kingsland is a good bungalow, we stayed in number 46 and had a bit of a seaview

We stayed at the Anglesey Bungalows for a week from 17th August. I would agree with some of the previous comments that the bungalow was a little dated; however, it was spotlessly clean and was a perfect size for our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children ages 5 & 2). For us, the main advantage of the bungalow was the fabulous location. We enjoyed crabbing on the pebble beach over the road, and the main (blue flag) sandy/rock pool beach was a 5-10 minute walk away. We ate once at the clubhouse, and the food was perfectly fine. The food at The Seacroft and the Trearddur Bay Hotel was really great. We booked through Hoseasons, and if we returned, I would book book direct. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday and I would return.

Not what I was expecting for £340 for 3 nights self catering (towels not provided) I could have stayed in a hotel with breakfast for that! Ok it had a pool (unmanned) but the rooms were really "tired" and in desperate need of modernisation. The beds have footboards so if you are 6ft or over sleeping will be an issue as you have to sleep with your legs bent. According to the info pack you can't check in till 4pm & have to be out by 10am.

We checked out a day early as we had had enough.

Local pubs are ok the best being the Seacroft at the other end of the main beach

Room Tip: Make sure you are small as are your expectations.

Ideal location for exploring all around Anglesey, beach is clean and dogs are allowed on designated areas of the beach in Trearddur and many other areas. Bungalow was clean just in need of updating, very 1970s in the kitchen and bathroom and looking a bit tired and old. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Just up the path outside the site were plenty of little coves especially the one near the Spooky House on the cliffs, you can also catch the Anglesey Coastal path there. Nearby in Holyhead are plenty of supermarkets and can highly recommend The Imperial Chinese in Trearddur, excellent food .If you love walking check out Penrhos Coastal park and Breakwater country park all with a few minutes nearby in Holyhead. Very pleased with the park and the surrounding areas. Will be back again next year.
