We've been here a few times now but I have to say our first experience was definitely the best. It's not that anything is worse it just doesn't change much so lacks choice.
The positives; the location is great and the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor eating. The food is very nice, well cooked and presented and some of the deserts are very pleasantly different to the normal offerings.
Where it could improve; The service needs a bit of attention, perhaps focus their training as much as the kitchen staff. The menu choice could do with a little more variety and dare I say more fish dishes, and finally the place needs a bit more of a comfort feel.
All in all a great place but would go more often if some of these things could be addressed.

Popped in without booking on Monday evening. Found us a table for two with a view. Prompt service . Both started with nibbles ( bread and hummus) and then both had hake which was very well cooked and delicious . We should have ordered vegetables because the helpings were not huge but still good value. Staff were generally pleasant but slightly off hand --we made allowances because they are relatively new and this is a commendable social enterprise. Liked the decor. Will visit again but would book a table. Pleased at how busy it was. The restaurant deserves to succeed.

We have been a few times and love this place !!!! We then took all 4 daughters for a family meal. Food was Fab.......steaks cooked to perfection and kids menu excellent.

Yes the service can be a tad slow at times BUT these guys are training so just ask and they bend over backwards for you.

So well done all and can't wait to see you all again.

An imposing modern design building on its own short access road and from the first floor good views of the sanddunes and near by Lake. The downstairs Bar area is fun with a mix of settee and chairs which allow inside and outside relaxing, theres also an internal sandpit just by the Bar for an authentic surfer dude feel. Upstairs the surfer image is dropped, views are good, decore nice and food, especialy seafood, of good quality and a reasonable range of choice. Service is almost all from local colledge students learning there roles so some times good sometimes poor. For Bitter drinkers thier brewed on the premises Oyster beer is pretty good and worth a try.

I've reviewed the Oyster Catcher before, and really feel I ought to comment on some changes for the good, and some things that just aren't right and are arguably gettting less good.

To start with the good - the refurb from earlier this year is really nice. The place is less noisy, more cosy, feels more fun. The beach huts on the balcony are a really nice place to sit, even on a windy day, and make lunch outside really good fun.

The food is still good - but I was disappointed that a special consisted of a small piece of fish on a bed of fennel and nothing else - not exactly a meal, and no-one pointed this out at the time of ordering.

And therein lies the rub. The service is just not up to standard. I'm not trying to have a go at the trainee staff who (in the main, although not always) are trying hard to do the best job they can, but it's hard to see what investment is being put into them. When you contrast this with the output of the kitchen - also trainees, but always really good standards, you have to wonder.

If only they could sort this issue out it would be a great restaurant/bar.

Will's bar downstairs is a great addition too - lively and fun. I'd definitely recommend this.
