Owner description: Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens have undergone a spectacular transformation and are being restored to their former glory. First laid out in 1804 in the 'picturesque' style of Humphrey Repton, the famous Victorian landscape designer, the gardens had become derelict by 1996. There are 10 acres of gardens, included a 2 acre Walled Garden, fantastic valley gardens packed with unusual and interesting plants, flowering shrubs and trees; river and waterfalls. Home made cakes are served in the traditional Tea Room. Visitor Centre describing the history and restoration of the gardens. In 2017 open 12noon-5pm on Weds/Thurs/Suns in April; Tues/Weds/Thurs/Suns May-Sep; Weds/Thurs/Suns in October. Pre-booked private group tours by appointment.

Beautiful secret gardens with a fab tea room. Only found by accident not well advertised but make the effort. Not open everyday

We are glad you found us! We are a Hidden Garden, but only just outside the town of Menai Bridge on the road to Beaumaris - look for the brown tourist signs. The gardens are closed for the winter - though if you fancy coming back and staying our cottages are available all year round and you get the gardens all to yourself! Hope to see you again next year - perhaps on a Sunday in February when we will be open for Snowdrops.

We visited the gardens in August when the agapanthus welcomed us at the gate and gave a taste of what was to come. The renovation of such an old, but interesting garden, is being carried out with much attention to detail and historical record. The contrast between formal and woodland gardens is achieved much better than in some larger and better known places. This garden will be of interest to both the casual visitor and the knowledgeable gardener alike. It is a place to explore or just to sit and contemplate. And the teas are excellent!

How lovely to feel welcomed by our Agapanthus! Probably the variety 'Navy Blue' which has such an intense colour. So glad you enjoyed the gardens in all their variety. See you again next season we hope. We open on Sundays in February for snowdrops.

Very picturesque and well kept, beautiful romantic walks by the trout stream. Quite similar to Port Meirion in that you would not believe you are in Wales. Lovely coffee shop!

Thank you Tony. We are glad you enjoyed your time in Plas Cadnant and also Portmeirion. There is so much to see here in North Wales and people are really starting to find out what they've been missing. We look forward to seeing you again, perhaps for the Snowdrops on Sundays in February?

We first went there when it originally opened. It was good to visit again and see the improvements. The formal gardens are well kept and were still quite attractive even though autumn was setting in. The paths through the wooded area lead to interesting spots by the stream and waterfalls. Even fish were spotted in one of the pools under the lower falls. Work is still continuing on the site and no doubt there will be further additions in the future. There is a cafe on the site but was completely empty when we visited. We felt the prices were a little on the high side though the menu looked appetising.

Hello and thank you for your comments. It's nice you have been able to see how we are progressing with the restoration of the Hidden Gardens. We are working on a waterfall at the moment. It sounds as though you looked into the Tea Room when the gardens had just opened as we are usually quite busy. We hope that you will try some of our home baked scones or cake next time you come - they are delicious and we pride ourselves on our generous portions and high quality. Our signature silver pots of tea are £1.90 per person and a buttered scone is £2.00, or £2.70 with clotted cream and a choice of jam. We will be open for the Snowdrops on Sundays in February, so hope to see you next year.

We were delighted with our visit to this hidden gem of a place. Within minutes of arriving, one feels relaxed and in a different world from the main road half a mile away! The gardens and woodland were fascinating both botanically and historically. We got to talk to a very pleasant gentleman who was working hard in the grounds, and he turned out to be the owner.

The new café was spotless, the food delicious and the staff friendly and helpful.

It would be lovely to see these gardens open for more days---or would this spoil the little secret which we lucky visitors can share? Highly recommended
