Owner description: Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens have undergone a spectacular transformation and are being restored to their former glory. First laid out in 1804 in the 'picturesque' style of Humphrey Repton, the famous Victorian landscape designer, the gardens had become derelict by 1996. There are 10 acres of gardens, included a 2 acre Walled Garden, fantastic valley gardens packed with unusual and interesting plants, flowering shrubs and trees; river and waterfalls. Home made cakes are served in the traditional Tea Room. Visitor Centre describing the history and restoration of the gardens. In 2017 open 12noon-5pm on Weds/Thurs/Suns in April; Tues/Weds/Thurs/Suns May-Sep; Weds/Thurs/Suns in October. Pre-booked private group tours by appointment.

We were delighted with our visit to this hidden gem of a place. Within minutes of arriving, one feels relaxed and in a different world from the main road half a mile away! The gardens and woodland were fascinating both botanically and historically. We got to talk to a very pleasant gentleman who was working hard in the grounds, and he turned out to be the owner.

The new café was spotless, the food delicious and the staff friendly and helpful.

It would be lovely to see these gardens open for more days---or would this spoil the little secret which we lucky visitors can share? Highly recommended

I have a host of reasons for loving Plas Cadnant, not least because they allowed my wedding to be held there (the only one this year, I might add!). We had the most wonderful experience with all the staff and the Gardens are just a beautiful setting whether you go in search of a lovely walk, inspiration for photography or painting, or just for some quiet contemplation. The Hidden Gardens really live up to their name, both from the outside (where you would really not know they are there) but also from the inside, where you forget the rest of the world exists.

The tea room is fantastic with lots of yummy food and drinks on offer, the staff are always willing to talk you through what the grounds have to offer, and the formal garden and woodland garden really have a wealth of enjoyment to offer you - so regardless of what else you might have planned, make sure you don't missa trip to the Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens!

My husband and friend came to Plas Cadnant with me on Wed 18th Sept. It's such a delight to visit and wonder at the vision of the past owners and also to marvel at all the work being done by so few people. The paths are quite steep but every turn has yet another treat for you.
Do visit when you can as it's only open two days a week at this time of year.
The tea room is gorgeous, such friendly ladies and the scones, jam and cream .................... yummy

Visited this reclaimed garden and were made to feel welcome by everyone we came into contact with and served delicious scones and tea/coffee in the tea room. The gardens are a joy to explore and, given how recently they were opened to the public, they offer a wide range of planting types and layouts to investigate.
Well worth a detour.

We're glad you enjoy your visit. The gardens were almost derelict only 17 years ago.... seems hard to believe when you see them now. We are now restoring another cascade and creating a Belvedere (viewing point) looking down onto the river. Looking forward to seeing you again.

Hello, the red Jasper rocks in the river are a surprise. Some days they are difficult to see and on others are positively glowing - it all depends on the light. You must have seen them just at the perfect moment. Glad you liked everything you saw.
