“Pleasant rooms.”
Reviewed February 7, 2013

I stayed at the hotel recently as the location was close to the office I was based at. I found the rooms to be clean and attractive. However there was a lot of noise from the bar. The noise was only an issue when I stayed on the first floor. Also odd as it may seem the wardrobes are very very small which I found irritating particularly as I had 5 days worth of work clothes with me.

Room Tip: ask for a room on the 2nd floor for peace and quiet.

Thank you for your comments

I am sorry that you may have had an occassional evening with noise from the bar area.
Looking at our records you were located over the food area of the bar, which usually quietens down quite early and I am unsure why you had such noise carry, but I assure you I will investigate.

Had we received a request from you to move we would have done so as soon as possible, especially with you staying with us for so many nights please do not hesitate to do so on your next stay.

I appreciate your comments on the wardrobe size in the room you stayed in.
We have rooms with slightly larger wardrobes that we will prioritise for longer stay guests in future.

Once agin thank you for your comments and your assistance in helping us improve our service.

Kind regards

Eric

Really friendly and helpful service. the room we get was really tidy and clean. We asked to the housekeepers to tidy up the room almost every day and it was perfect. the food was good as well. really nice homemade burgers. we love the location. Definetly we will stay again.

Returned for an evening meal after some months absence. Heard that it had a change of manager or something through the local grapevine. Last time we, as a party, dined there it was not brilliant, in our opinion, for the rather high price. This occasion proved to be a more enjoyable meal - though still a bit pricey compared with other eateries in the area - we enjoyed the meal. It was well cooked and there seemed to be a little more of it than last we visited. The staff were polite and attentive. For those yet to visit, the Anglesey Arms is a busy pub - a locals pub - and the eating area is in with the bar so it can be a little lively on occasions but amiable, so if you are looking for a quietish, intimate meal it is worth thinking about that before you go away disappointed.

Thank you for your review and we are all very pleased that you noticed a marked improvement.
To avoid dissappoitment and to improve your experience if you would like to dine in more convivial surroundings, we do have The Ellis Room which is located away from the bar area.
we always do our best to accomodate any requests to be located in this quieter area.

Thank you once again for your review.

Excellent place to overnight. Great en-suite accommodation in a tastefully fefurbished establishment..

Would have got the extra point if the food was the sane standard as the accomodation. Having said that it was averege and the dinner was not included in the rate.

Had a meal here three years ago -vowed never to go back. Never say never!!! After a very expensive makeover and careful dedicated management this place is definetly worth a visit. The mix of town and gown is a people watching experience par excellence. Try It !!!

Room Tip: The bar can be noisy-suggest a room at the front on the second floor.

We had lovely food- apart from the cheese tarts which were encased in rather dry and hard pastry on a bed of uninspired salad- but the only negative issue was the wait of 45 minutes for the meals to arrive!! The restaurant section wasn't particularly busy either. One rather odd observation was the presentation of two chocolate mousses in totally different sized/shaped glasses. The staff were lovely and very attentive but could only provide us with one sweet menu as there were no others to be found!(???)

Room Tip: Allow yourself plenty of time if dining!!

I stayed at the Anglesey Arms whilst working away from home. This lovely hotel and staff made me feel very welcome and the hotel is far superior to ones I have stayed in in the local area. The rooms are large and very well decorated. There is a nice touch of a cafetiere in your room. The towels and duvet are so luxurious. I didnt eat in the restaurant but it looked lovely. Only down side for me was not taking American Express which is our Company credit card..however I am sure I will be back in the New Year though. Big thank you for a lovely stay.
