My wife and I stayed overnight here [on a Travelzoo deal]. Not stayed before.

A very good experience. Rather grand old hall building with modern parts added on.

The Spa was excellent and included free for hotel guests whilst checked-in [but was subject to a 50% day rate charge after checkout]. Really good pool and also sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. It also provided treatments and had a good gym but we didn't try these.

The hotel room was a little dated but very spacious, clean and comfortable.

We ate dinner in the evening and this was excellent. The full Welsh breakfast gave us a good start to the day on departure.

Would recommend for a nice break even in winter.

Had a wonderful time at this hotel, everything was as expected from afternoon tea, to the spa, to the room to the evening meal in the Clock Tower restaurant. Staff all lovely and helpful and it was spotless. I'm only sad we didn't have longer to stay.

Went to Tre-Ysgawen yesterday, Sunday afternoon, to the Clock tower restaurant, I ordered the special: sandwich, scone, cream & jam and pot of tea, my husband ordered scone, cream & jam and pot of tea. The sandwich was delicious, sadly the rest was a disappointment, the milk for the tea was sour, I asked for this to be changed and was given a fresh jug which unfortunately was also sour. The scones were dry and stale, as I had already complained and the staff were not very helpful I did not feel I could complain again. Very disappointed.

Thank you for your feedback and apologies for the delay. I have spoken to the head chef regarding the quality of the cakes and scones and he has looked into the matter. I have also spoken to the Clocktower supervisor who has started reminding the team about customer service. I apologise for this and do hope you will visit us again.

We had a fabulous meal in the restaurant and a few bottles of fantastic Anglesey Shiraz. Our rooms were very good. Overall a good Travelzoo deal. Would go back again. The only downside to our great night out was the breakfast. The bacon was awful. The sausage half cooked. The fried bread just broke into pieces. Must say though the scrambled eggs were delicious. The grounds looked nice but the weather was horrible so we did not walk round. Maybe next time!!

Thanks for taking the time to write a review. Apologies over our breakfast, I will discuss with the head chef to see what happened. Maybe the weather might be a bit nicer next time you come

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tre-Ysgawen Hall. Such a lovely traditional hotel with a modern touch.
The food and service were excellent with one exception. The orange sorbet was not nice at all. Traditionally, when sorbet is served as a dinner course, it is lemon sorbet. On the second night, we asked if we could have lemon sorbet instead. The waiter at first said "no", then said he would check. We got our lemon sorbet and much nicer (and more appropriate) it was too.
We smiled when the same waiter kept referring to the Prosecco we'd ordered, as champagne. He then came into the bar while we were having coffee to ask if we wanted the rest of our "champagne"; we thanked him and pointed out that it was finished!
Finally, please ask the staff to stop saying "sorry" for nothing. The bar staff were particularly prone to saying this all the time: "Sorry, here are the menus", "Sorry, are you ready to order?", "Sorry, are these finished?" etc.!!
I would certainly visit again and would recommend the Tre-Ysgawen Hall to friends.

We went with a group of friends to this hotel for a pre Christmas dinner. We started with canapés in the bar before heading into the dining room. The service throughout was excellent and the food superb. There was a good choice of food especially for me as I am vegetarian. The restaurant is very spacious and nicely laid out. The only down side that we found was that the lighting was quite low and some of our friends found it quite dark at their part of the table.
We had coffee and petit fours in the lounge which was a lovely setting to end our relaxed dinner.
