“Great deal”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

We got a great deal through a Travel Zoo voucher.

Service was excellent at dinner, very attentive staff. The food was first class.

The house is wonderful. We would have liked to take in the gardens surrounding the house but the recent wet weather meant conditions weren't suitable unfortunately.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and glad you enjoyed your stay. Weather on Anglesey can be a bit too much sometimes and hope to welcome you back soon. A new deal will be going online soon, but remember your wellies if you book :)

We found this hotel through a deal with Travelzoo which was fantastic value for money. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. The entrance to the hotel is very impressive with lovely log fires and comfy settees, a nice relaxing place after dinner to enjoy a glass of wine.
The rooms were lovely, spacious and tastefully decorated. The spa was spotlessly clean, again with lovely staff. The spa facilities are excellent and we enjoyed a chilled day by the pool and in the jacuzzi.
Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic, again the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, nothing was too much trouble.
The breakfast again was excellent.
The hotel is in the middle of nowhere which is perfect if you do want to get away from it all and just chill out.
I will definitely be booking again soon.

Went on a KGB deal, was really excellent value. Stayed a couple of nights to celebrate our anniversary.

Firstly, this place is in the middle of nowhere, beautiful countryside all around, but if you like to venture out and walk to the local pub then there isn't one! But, the hotel has everything you could wish for.

The rooms are quite grand and spacious, we never used the bath or shower so can't comment on those.........no, we're not soap dodgers!

The first night we ate in the main restaurant, and the food was absolutely brilliant and good value too. The second night we ate in the Brasserie which wasn't so good, and no cheaper. If we came again we'd eat on the main restaurant each evening.

Breakfast was a sumptuous affair with many top quality hot options as well as the usual cereals, fruits, pastries, meat and cheeses, but all were superior quality.

The Clock Tower bar, is a nice place to chill out with plenty of comfy sofas and chairs and nooks to hide away in.

We went to the Spa a couple of times a day, using the pool, sauna, steam room and showers which were all excellent ( and free for guests ), and the Spa was also open to non-residents for treatments and spa days etc.

The only criticism from our stay would be the Spa treatments we both had, they were a bit weedy, we both like a good pummelling, but maybe that's just a personal preference thing?

All in all, it was an excellent stay, and we would certainly go again.

Really enjoyed the stay from first min to the last. Went to the hotel using a deal from travelzoo, which really provided great value. I would advise anyone to go here for a relaxing break, and especially advise eating in the clock tower if staying for 2 nights (my partner had a superb lamb burger). Only problem was neither of us could move after eating so much nice food during our stay!!

Room was ok if a little tired. Bathroom was poor with a shower head that flew off its holder and hit me on the head when I turned off the water. Reception rooms dominated by ghostly paintings of the owners dead daughter. Food varied from very good to absolutely awful. I had fillet steak that was excellent and chicken goujons that I could hardly get my teeth through. Staff friendly but young and seemed to be enthusiastic amateurs.

Many thanks for your review and feedback. We have started to upgrade some of the rooms noting that some look tired. Apologies about the shower head and of course your dining experience. We have looked into it and adressed the issues. Apologies again on the delay in replying to your feedback and we do hope you will visit us again soon.

We decided to have a night away on the spur of the moment and as i have never been to Anglesey we found this lovely hotel on line. I asked to have a room in the old part of the hall and the room was gorgeous, a four poster and a huge bathroom. The ladies on reception were so friendly and welcoming as was the waitresses and the girls in the lovely spa. We could not fault the food for the evening meal or breakfast in a truely lovely setting.

We really can't wait to return. Thank you to all the staff for your friendly welcoming manner that made our stay really special.

Looking for a short break in Angelsey we found this deal on Secret Escapes. The hotel is slightly isolated but is in a beatiful spot and from the moment we booked in everything was taken care of. We had a spa room literally just opposite the spa and looking onto a small courtyard. The room was large modern and very clean with complementary water and apples and beverage tray. We loved the spa and gym. The swimming pool was the right temperature, the steam room and the tropical showers smelt fragrant and the ice room certainly helped cool us down after the heat of the sauna. The gym was also modern and well equipped. Best of all was the service and the food. the hotel itself is very country house in look and feel and we dined in the formal dining room the first night from the set menu £32.50 for 3 courses and we found both quantity and quality excellent. The trio of lamb was perfection. We found this a friendly and welcoming experience as was breakfast in the same room the next day. The second night we dined in the clock tower and having eaten a superb breakfast and on our travels had a snack we simply opted for one course which was the platter of fish for 2 and this was amazing. Mussels and clams in a rich wine sauce, battered prawns, battered curried white fish, smoked mackeral and fresh prawns with chips almost had us beaten cost £29. Again thanks to Dan the service was excellent. Breakfast was in the conservatory on Sunday morning and again was excellent Can highly recommend the smoked salmon and larva omlette and the wonderful smiling Amy who seemed to be on hand all week end looking after us.The girls at reception were very helpful especially recommending places to visit even printing off maps for us. All in all an excellent experience and would highly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Spa rooms very handy for the spa, no need to get dressed just pop over in your robe!
