Isolated beautiful accommodation ideal for escapes. Victorian mansion with expected tasteful decoration and beautiful grounds. Incredibly specious rooms. Excellent service. Unfortunately we did not have time to partake in the spa activities not swim in the pool.
Wifi available in lobby and library room unfortunately not in the rooms.
Ideal for events weddings or work retreats.
Given the location must have a car to get around.

Generally, the staff were friendly and helpful.. The room lacked "finish". The bathroom had been recently refurbished yet the shower head, soap dish and towel rail were all loose and coming away from the wall. Wherever I travel in the world I always have problems with the TV. At Tre-Ysgawen Hall I could not locate ITV1, Channel 4 or Channel 5 no matter how many times I retuned the set. The hotel's central aerial was obviously not powerful enough.
The food in the main restaurent was OK but a little expensive for what you received. The wine bar was very lacking. I ordered a Thai Green Curry but it transpired that the hotel did not have any rice! I was given a salad instead. Curry on salad is not ideal! Can you imagine a restaurent serving curry and they had no rice!! What is the cost of a packet of rice and how much storage space does it take up? The service was poor and very slow considering that there were only two tables occupied.

Very secluded, in a good way, particularly if you need to get away from it all. The hotel has a nice airy feeling about it, the bar and restaurant very warm and atmospheric.
BedRooms traditional in style and a decent size. Good in-room products too.
Personally we prefer the more modern hotel room to this but it's a matter of personal taste, but one couldn't help feel that the room didn't feel as salubrious as the price tag would suggest.
Pre-dinner drinks were very cost and enjoyable in the Noelle bar and the Sunday evening meal was excellent throughout (8/10).
Spa was good (had a Swedish massage) and great value too with a nice coffee lounge in which to relax afterwards.

Tre Ysgawen is a grand country house that has retained its original features and atmosphere and offers generous and stylish accommodation. The lounge has a well stocked library featuring the standard classics from the Easton and Franklin Press and a fine selection of books in German and French, even some academic books, however the right mix of all kinds. The high ceilings in the bed rooms and antique (-style) furniture add to the atmosphere. There are flat screens in the room but thankfully the oft-ubiquitous plasma screens found in other hotels are confined to the modern Spa annexe. I liked fruit and water in the room, the choice of milk or cream with coffee, the friendly service and excellent wine selection. The table d'hote menu is very good and very reasonably priced in the elegant dining room.

We have just returned from a 2 night break at this hotel. It was a lovely trip and we were made to feel very welcome. The staff are very helpful.

We ate in the Clocktower Restaurant and the formal dining room. The food was outstanding, particularly the steak we had from the formal menu. Yes, the portions aren't huge, however, after 3 courses with all the extras we were full up.

The hotel has an opulent feel without being pretentious. The spa is absolutely lovely we spent a wonderful couple of hours resting up after a day of sightseeing.

We went under the reduced rate offer and it was good value. We would definately return.

Just got back from a fantastic weekend, the weather was hot and sunny, the ride up to the hotel is lovely,a little remote but then it is a country house retreat. The staff on reception were very friendly, its just like stepping back in time, the house itself has some lovely features and room number 15 was lovely, very sunny and faced the enterance and the gardens, the bathroom could be a little bigger but the bath robes and free bathroom give aways were a nice touch, the only thing i would say is that to have a few rooms with a king size bed in would be a bonus as we found the double bed a bit small,as we have a super king size, but the bed was comfy and clean. We ate in the clock tower restaurant the first night which is very informal with a good menu and good service,on the Sunday night we had to eat in the formal restaurant as the clock tower is not open and you are a good 15mins drive out to civillization, the menu offered a choice of starter, main, and sweet the food was very good but the portion size for a man was a little small, but very nice, and the service excellent after the evening meal you could take coffee in one of the lounges,or the conserventory the choice is yours. The breakfast was served on the Saturday in the dinning room and was wonderfull,it was hot, tasty and there was a good choice if you wanted a continental option this was also available on the Bank Holiday Monday breakfast was in the conservatory which we

We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday of a Bank Holiday weekend and were looking for a relaxing break, so weren't disappointed. Overall, the hotel met expectations and was well described in the recent reviews. The real flaw is that it just isn't quite together - additional charges were added to our bill (but removed without quibbling when the error was pointed out), our room still had the ex-smoking odour in the background and there were other smaller irritations that you would not expect in a four star hotel - we were placed at a recently vacated breakfast table with place settings put on top of crumbs.
On the many positives, the setting was lovely, the space in room and bathroom good, the communal areas spacious and relaxed and the pool/spa very nice.
We were also pleasantly surprised that the prices of food and bar were very good value and there was a good choice.
One final quibble was the chilled champagne waiting for us in our room - a nice touch and no complaints but it would have been nice to have been made aware of the price.
Overall, I would recommend with the caveat that it isn't quite the full 4 star service you might expect.
