“A little too posh for location, venue but tries fine dining with embarrassed young waiters. Enjoyable none the less”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2013 via mobile

Great welcome, with Menu and drinks order before being led into the bar for drinks. Then led upstairs where we were seated.
Food very nice but felt really sorry and uncomfortable for a young waiter trying his best to live up to the service at a top city restaurant and it wasn't happening.
The decor is nice. And we did enjoy it. Just wish they wouldn't try this hard to warrant the menu price.
Let the food and atmosphere dictate the price.
Would rather a polite, well mannered and relaxed waiter than a nervous wreck trying to please his boss rather than the customer

“Superbe meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2013

We were advised here by Cleifiog B&B which was in walking distance. Excellent meal, quality. Cute little bar there for a pre-dinner drink whilst we waited for our table. Recommend this restaurant.

“Excellent restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

Beaumaris is a small town; and to find a restaurant of this quality is rare. The Loft in the Bulls Head have an extremely well picked menu with lots of choice, and the wine list is first class. We have been several times and while pricey (usually because we overspend on wine!!) it is worth every The lounge area, to sit prior to dinner, is very comfortable with leather wing back chairs and sofas and here are served canapes and pre-dinner drinks prior to being shown upstairs to the restaurant. The staff are attentive with excellent service, and the quality of the food is very good. This restaurant is not aimed at people with small children; more for couples / intimate dinner parties.

The Conservatory restaurant downstairs is more family orientated and good for lunches - a very extensive menu, and we usually plump for the fish and chip lunch which never fails to fill! Very good standard of food for a lunch menu and excellent value for money.

The Bar in the Bulls head is cosy, charming and with an open fire.

Overall - 10/10 for the range of dining and drinking options presented.

“Over-cooked and over-priced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

I have visited the conservatory area for lunch on many occasions and generally not been disappointed but sad to say but I think those days are gone. The prices are far too high and would not be out of place on the menu of a gastro-pub that is owned by one of the master chefs. Sadly this place isn't that, and what is on the menu as a main for £13.50 should really be around the £7.50 - £8.50 mark. I had the special which was fillet of hake on mashed potato with some carrots. There wasn't that many people in there when we went in at 12.30 so there was no reason for the fish to be dry and overcooked. My wife had fillet of trout which was also slightly over-cooked also. This was a strange dish as it was black pasta with a tomato based sauce that was fine, but the fish was just plonked on top of it and the whole dish didn't seem to work somehow. Service is ok but if there are only two of you they try to get you to sit at a small table despite the place being virtually empty. We were stupid to comply because when later customers came in and wanted to sit at bigger tables the staff merely agreed with them. In any event the restaurant is either happy to live off its reputation, or there has been a change of staff or ownership. Whichever is the case I wouldn't go back again.
