Sadly it was every wet and muddy, so not a great visit. The grass was waterlogged, and the ruins were full of puddles, and we only had normal shoes.

The Castle itself is Enormous. In Great Condition and if you want to stop and read the plaques then you would probably learn a lot about it. My 6 year old son didn't really fancy that, he preferred climbing on everything and was too exited by the bow and arrow he got at the shop (Definitely buy something on Entry, not Exit, you can play Soldiers etc as you wander round...thats what we did anyway ha!)

The only disappointing factor was the lack of anything other than a Castle. Some Speakers or Tour Guides or Re-enactments or activities for the Kids would really liven this place up and you would definitely make more of a day of it. Maybe even some stalls and food markets in the centre, old age style, would mean you could sit and eat on the Grass and not have to cram into the tiny Gift Shop. Some ideas I think would really set this place apart, as it is such a FANTASTIC PLACE.

It was around £11 for an adult to get in I think. Its worth a visit, but again, it could be so much more :)

This is a wonderful castle medieval castle but I can't help feeling that more could be made of it as an attraction. We spent around 1 hour walking around the inner and outer wards and on the castle walls, trying to get a flavour of what it must have been like 700-800 years ago. We read the story boards, but there were no staff or guides on hand to talk to or ask questions of. We visited Caernarfon Castle earlier in 2012 and had a very different experience. We were happy to pay a little extra to join a guided tour and our guide was very knowledgeable. He did his best to transport us back in time to get a flavour of what it must have been like to live in a 13th century castle. This was lacking at Beaumaris. Having said that, Beaumaris Castle is certainly a photographers paradise and well worth a visit.

love castles and enjoyed this one very much. All the castles in wales are well worth a visit.
The views are lovely from the top, interesting to read about the history of this castle, shame it wasnt finished as it would of been quite an imposing sight!

I don't normally 'do' castles but this place was reasonably priced so we had a look. Steeped with history and amazing building. We managed to spend 2hours looking around and the views from the top were equally breathtaking. Location was beautiful. Will definitely return and stay for a couple of days.
