My family and I had a lovely meal here recently. We had only called at 4.30 and managed to get a table at 5.15 which was a little early but as we were in town and have 2 young children we decided to go ahead. We were pleased to be seated at what I believe was the best table at the front of the restaurant, plenty of light and a nice view. The food was very good indeed, my husband had the mussels to start followed by the lamb kofta. I had the steak which I asked for medium rare but which was served medium which was a bit of a shame. The children's meals were good and they had ice cream for dessert. The best part of the meal however was my dessert. It was from the specials board and was a fairly simple summer fruit sponge but it was simply divine. I never wanted it to end, just delicious. Unfortunately however this lovely food and very nice restaurant was let down entirely by the majority of the waiting staff. There was one lady who seemed to be in charge who was good and a young man who was ok, but the others, who were all very young looking girls, looked like they were being forced to work in the family restaurant for the school holidays and would rather be hanging out in their bedrooms, well actually anywhere, other than here. There was no eye contact, not smiles, most of them barely spoke and when they did they whispered. Trying to get their attention even when they did walk around was impossible, they'd look up, but skilfully manage to avoid eye contact. You could almost hear their hearts sink when you did finally get their attention. Such as shame as with some competent, enthusiastic and professional staff this place would get 5 stars.
