Stayed here recently for 2 nights in a king sleigh room. Was really happy with the service when making the booking as being in this industry I do think the first impressions count. The hotel itself is small with only about 10 rooms and has a pub / restaurant underneath. It is dated but thats to be expected from a grade 2 listed building. The room itself was really clean which is always a plus and a nice size. The whole building does seem to be on a bit of a slant and the bed does slope on one size but to be honest it adds character to the hotel. The bathroom is dated but everything is in working oreder. The breakfast was great and I love that you order what you want. The pub was nice and friendly. We only had a light bite on one night and this was lovely. It's in a great little location. Overall I had a great stay and if returning would definitely stay here again :)

My family and I stayed for three nights in the family room and whilst we had a great family break on the lovely island, mixed feelings about the hotel. I shall sum up in pros and cons:

The cons: Very dated decor, particularly the bathroom, which flooded every time you had a shower due to cheap shower curtain and the toilet wobbled when you sat on it.
The breakfast was fine if you want cooked breakfast everyday (which I did for the first two days, but wanted more choice for third morning), but the non cooked options were very basic.
The menus stated that they had bread from the local bakery, but unless the local bakery was Warburtons that was not true - cheap supermarket sliced bread (again fine, but not what was advertised and we were looking forward to).
Car parking was a real problem. We only managed to get a space on the first day, the rest of the time, we had to drive round the streets to find parking. Car park is small and difficult to get in with a family car.

The Pros: The location of the pub is brilliant.
The staff were friendly and no issues around service
The room was very clean and although dated, was comfy.

All in all, we had a good time. I was pleased that we got a three nights for the price of two deal. We found the pub pleasant but very dark and in need of some brightening up, but that is probably personal taste. I would return, but only on a cheap deal.

We turned up on Mothersay on the off chance of lunch. We were promptly seated and enjoyed a thoroughly good Sunday carvery. The IPA was good too, though a little cool for my CAMRA trained palette! Overall a good experience, congratulation to the management team for a slick and professional performance!

We stayed for three nights in room 2 and had a very relaxing weekend. All the staff were very helpful and we ate at the hotel every night. The specials board has something for every one and the quality is excellent. We have been to this hotel several times over the years and really enjoy our stays.

Room Tip: rooms on the back will be quieter but we found the seagulls were the nosiest!

We stayed for one night , we were in room 6 on the first floor ,the room was awful the mattress was the most uncomfortable thing we have ever sleep on , and most of all no mattress protector a big NO NO in a B and B, I know the building is old but we were tripping over the floor boards they need urgent attention before anyone gets hurt. On the plus side the breakfast was good and pub had good atmosphere. But you do want a good nights sleep when your away for the night. but the mattress really does need replacing.

Stayed her for one night, room was spotlessly clean, 4 poster bed, crisp white sheets, lovely clean en suite room, we were very surprised at the quality and service and felt they could charge a lot more, All the staff were really!! friendly and welcoming, barman on duty that evening is a real gem... keep him. We ate in the bar and saw the carvery, looks amazing, we opted for the chefs pie. and it was gorgeous, proper home made chunky steak pie with pastry better than mine, and mines awesome. Well kept ales, warm cozy, and we slept like logs. We will definitely return and would recommend.

Having stayed at this hotel about 5 years ago and as we were planning a weekend on Anglesey with our son and his girlfriend we decided to book here again.
We were pleasantly surprised, as the old character of the pub had been retained, but the hotel rooms had been had been refurbished to a good standard. However the windows could do with some attention as one window in our room would not close completely and two frames in our son's room were cracked. This lead to their room being quite chilly, but when this was pointed out to a member of staff a supplementary heater was provided, solving the problem.
The bar was comfortable with a good selection of traditional draught beers , lagers and ciders and a comprehensive selection of further drinks accompanied by a warm welcome.
Breakfast was basic but of good quality and plentiful. If you want a full Welsh you won't be disappointed!
We shall be returning.
